ABSTRACT: In Brazil, urea is the most used nitrogen (N) fertilizer to improve forage production. However, their excessive use can cause environmental impacts through N losses, such as ammonia (NH3) volatilization. Therefore, the current study adjusted and estimated the NH3 volatilization from urea applied on tropical pastures in three rainfall conditions using mathematical models. Data were collected from Marandu grass (Brachiaria brizantha) fertilized with 50 kg N ha-1 during wet, intermediate, and dry conditions. Ammonia volatilization was measured in five semi-open chambers for 21 days. The linear, quadratic, exponential, Gompertz, Groot, and Richards models were tested for fitting and estimating the NH3 volatilization. The Gompertz, Groot, and Richards models generated predictions similar to the observed data, with a high determination coefficient, indicating a better fit of these equations to data, with precision and accuracy. However, the Groot model was selected due to the lowest root mean square error of prediction (0.29 % total N lost as NH3). The greatest N loss as NH3 volatilization occurred in the wet, followed by intermediate and dry conditions (20.2, 17.0, and 11.3 % total N lost as NH3, respectively). Therefore, nitrogen losses as NH3 volatilization after application of 50 kg N ha-1, as urea source, are altered according to the weather conditions, reaching 20% of N added in the wet rainfall period. The Groot model is recommended for fitting and estimating the NH3 volatilization from urea applied on Marandu grass pastures in the wet and dry rainfall conditions.

RESUMO: No Brasil, a ureia é o fertilizante nitrogenado mais utilizado para melhorar a produção de forragem. No entanto, seu uso excessivo pode causar impactos ambientais por meio de perdas de nitrogênio (N), como a volatilização da amônia (NH3). Portanto, o objetivo do presente estudo foi ajustar a volatilização de NH3 da ureia aplicada em pastos tropicais em três condições de chuva utilizando modelos matemáticos. Dados foram coletados de pastos de capim-marandu (Brachiaria brizantha) adubado com 50 kg N ha-1 em condições úmidas, intermediárias e secas. A volatilização da NH3 foi medida em cinco câmaras semiabertas durante 21 dias. Os modelos, linear, quadrático, exponencial, Gompertz, Groot e Richards foram testados para ajuste e estimativa da volatilização do NH3. Os modelos de Gompertz, Groot e Richards geraram predições semelhantes aos dados observados, com alto coeficiente de determinação, indicando um melhor ajuste dessas equações aos dados, com acurácia e precisão. No entanto, o modelo Groot foi selecionado devido ao menor erro quadrático médio das predições (0,29% de N total perdido como NH3). A maior volatilização de NH3 ocorreu em condições climáticas úmida, seguido por intermediária e seca (20,2; 17,0 e 11,3% de N total perdido como NH3, respectivamente). Portanto, as perdas de N como volatilização de NH3 após a aplicação de 50 kg N ha-1, como fonte de ureia, são alteradas de acordo com as condições climáticas, atingindo a 20% do N adicionado nas condições úmidas. O modelo Groot é recomendado para ajuste e estimativa da volatilização de NH3 da ureia aplicada em pastos de capim Marandu em condições úmidas e secas.

Abstract Sheep production systems face numerous challenges, which make decision-making a process fraught with risks and uncertainties. Modelling is a helpful tool in this respect, as it allows decision-makers to evaluate the behaviour of variables and their interrelationships, in addition to using previous or related information to predict results and simulate different scenarios. The advent of prediction models has made it possible to monitor the weight of an animal and determine the best time for its sale. Additionally, it allows producers to estimate the weights of the carcass and major marketable cuts before slaughter. All this information is directly associated with the profitability and success of the production activity. Therefore, in view of the different applications of mathematical models in production systems, this literature review examines concepts in modelling studies and the importance of using prediction models in meat sheep production. Furthermore, it addresses the practical application of modelling studies in predicting dry matter intake and carcass traits of meat sheep through correlated variables.

Resumen Los sistemas de producción ovina se enfrentan a numerosos desafíos, que hacen de la toma de decisiones un proceso lleno de riesgos e incertidumbres. En este sentido, la modelación es una herramienta útil, ya que permite a los tomadores de decisiones evaluar el comportamiento de las variables y sus interrelaciones, además de utilizar información previa o relacionada para predecir resultados y simular diferentes escenarios. El advenimiento de los modelos de predicción ha permitido monitorear el peso de un animal y determinar el mejor momento para su venta. Además, permite a los productores estimar los pesos de la canal y los principales cortes comercializables antes del sacrificio. Toda esta información está directamente asociada a la rentabilidad y el éxito de la actividad productiva. Por lo tanto, en vista de las diferentes aplicaciones de los modelos matemáticos en los sistemas de producción, esta revisión de la literatura examina los conceptos en los estudios de modelación y la importancia de utilizar modelos de predicción en la producción de ovinos de carne. Además, aborda la aplicación práctica de los estudios de modelación en la predicción de la ingesta de materia seca y los rasgos de la canal de ovinos de carne a través de variables correlacionadas.

RESUMO: Objetivou-se com o estudo detectar Cryptosporidium sp. em ostras de cultivo e estoque natural no estado do Maranhão e determinar o(s) tecido(s) eletivo(s) para pesquisa desse protozoário. Para a realização do estudo foram adquiridas 200 ostras de cultivo do município de Raposa e 100 de Paço do Lumiar, além de 100 ostras extraídas de estoque natural do município de Primeira Cruz, totalizando 400 ostras. Estas foram agrupadas em 80 pools constituídos por cinco animais. De cada pool, as brânquias e a massa visceral foram removidas totalizando 160 pools, sendo 80 para o grupo das brânquias e 80 para o grupo de massa visceral. Na sequência, procedeu-se à extração de DNA de cada pool com a utilização de kit comercial com modificações. Posteriormente, realizou-se a detecção do DNA do protozoário por meio da técnica de Nested-PCR. Com a técnica utilizada, foi detectado o DNA do protozoário pesquisado em 2,5% (n=2/80) pools apenas de brânquias, sendo 1,25% pools (n=1/80) oriundos de cultivo e os outros 1,25% (n=1/80) de estoque natural. Com os resultados obtidos nesse estudo, conclui-se que as ostras analisadas do gênero Crassostrea sp., oriundas de cultivo e estoque natural no estado do Maranhão, estavam contaminadas por Cryptosporidium sp. e podem se reverter em fontes potenciais para seres humanos e outros animais. Para a pesquisa de Cryptosporidium sp. em ostras, as brânquias são o tecido eletivo.

ABSTRACT: This study detected Cryptosporidium spp. in cultivated oysters and the natural oyster stock of the state of Maranhão and determine the elective tissue(s) to examine this protozoan. For this purpose, 200 cultivated oysters were purchased from the municipality of Raposa and another 100 from Paço do Lumiar. Additionally, 100 oysters were extracted from the natural stock of the municipality of Primeira Cruz, thus making up a total of 400 oysters. They were grouped into 80 pools consisting of 5 oysters each. From each pool, the gills and visceral mass were removed to obtain 160 pools, 80 pools for the gill group and another 80 for the visceral mass group. Then, DNA was extracted from each pool using a commercial kit with modifications. Subsequently, the protozoan DNA was detected using nested polymerase chain reaction. With this technique, the DNA of the protozoan under investigation was detected in 2.5% (n = 2/80) of the pools containing gills, with 1.25% of the pools (n = 1/80) belonging to the cultivation group of oysters and the other 1.25% (n = 1/80) to the natural stock. With the results obtained in this study, it was concluded that the analyzed oysters of the genus Crassostrea, from cultivation and natural stock groups, found in the state of Maranhão, were contaminated by Cryptosporidium spp. and may become potential sources of infection in humans and other animals. In addition, the gills are the elective tissue for the study of Cryptosporidium spp. in oysters.

RESUMO: Objetivo: Validar o conteúdo e a aparência de um aplicativo sobre prevenção e controle da sífilis para adolescentes. Método: Estudo metodológico realizado de janeiro a junho de 2020. Participaram 22 juízes com experiência na área de sífilis, com ênfase em promoção da saúde do adolescente, tecnologias educativas e validação de instrumentos. Foi usado instrumento que possui variáveis relacionadas ao conteúdo, estrutura, funcionalidade e relevância. Utilizou-se o Índice de Validade de Conteúdo, Teste Alpha de Cronbach e Índice de Legibilidade de Flesch. Resultados: Nas três dimensões, a média do Índice de Validade de Conteúdo foi superior a 0,80, o que valida os conteúdos do aplicativo. O Índice de Validade de Conteúdo global do aplicativo foi de 0,86, sendo satisfatório e possibilitando considerar aplicativo validado quanto ao conteúdo e aparência. Em relação ao Alfa de Cronbach total do aplicativo, obteve-se um valor de 0,94, demonstrando uma excelente homogeneidade entre as respostas dos participantes. O teste de legibilidade revelou que a tecnologia é considerada de fácil compreensão para o leitor. Conclusão: O aplicativo móvel se apresentou válido quanto ao conteúdo e a aparência, demonstrando que é uma ferramenta tecnológica confiável para ser utilizada por adolescentes na educação em saúde acerca da prevenção e controle da sífilis.

RESUMEN: Objetivo: Validar el contenido y la apariencia de una aplicación para adolescentes sobre la prevención y el control de la sífilis. Método: Estudio metodológico realizado de enero a junio de 2020. Participaron 22 jueces con experiencia en el área de la sífilis con énfasis en la promoción de la salud de los adolescentes, las tecnologías educativas y la validación de instrumentos. Se utilizó un instrumento que tiene variables relacionadas con el contenido, la estructura, la funcionalidad y la relevancia. Se utilizaron el Índice de Validez de Contenido, la Prueba Alfa de Cronbach y el Índice de Legibilidad de Flesch. Resultados: En las tres dimensiones, la media del Índice de Validez de Contenido fue superior a 0,80, lo que valida los contenidos de la aplicación. El Índice de Validez de Conocimiento global de la aplicación fue de 0,86, resultando satisfactorio y permitiendo considerar la aplicación como validada en cuanto a conocimiento y apariencia. En relación con el Alfa de Cronbach total de la aplicación, se obtuvo un valor de 0,94, lo que demuestra una excelente homogeneidad entre las respuestas de los participantes. La prueba de legibilidad reveló que la tecnología se considera de fácil comprensión para el lector. Conclusión: La aplicación móvil se presenta válida en cuanto al contenido y la apariencia, demostrando que es una herramienta tecnológica fiable para ser utilizada por los adolescentes en la educación para la salud sobre la prevención y el control de la sífilis.

ABSTRACT: Objective: To validate the appearance and content of an application for the prevention and control of syphilis in adolescents. Method: A methodological study was carried out from January to June 2020. Twenty-two judges with experience in syphilis control participated, with an emphasis on adolescent health promotion, educational technologies, and instrument validation. An instrument with variables related to content, structure, functionality, and relevance was used. The Content Validity Index, Cronbach's Alpha Test, and Flesch's Readability Index were used. Results: In the three dimensions, the average Content Validity Index was greater than 0.80, which validates the contents of the application. The overall Content Validity Index of the application was 0.86, which is satisfactory and makes it possible to consider the application valid in terms of content and appearance. Concerning the total Cronbach's Alpha of the application, a value of 0.94 was obtained, demonstrating excellent homogeneity between the participants' responses. The readability test revealed that the technology is easy for the user to understand. Conclusion: The mobile application proved valid in terms of content and appearance, demonstrating that this is a reliable technological tool that adolescents can use as a health education strategy for syphilis prevention and control.

Resumo Este artigo objetiva analisar como as psicólogas atuantes na atenção básica percebem a influência dos efeitos psicossociais do racismo e do sexismo em suas práticas e no processo de saúde e cuidado prestado às mulheres negras. Trata-se de pesquisa qualitativa de caráter descritivo e exploratório, seguindo a perspectiva da psicologia social crítica. Foi realizado um levantamento teórico-metodológico sobre os temas relevantes, assim como a produção do instrumento de coleta de dados e entrevistas semiestruturadas. Participaram do estudo oito psicólogas que atendem o público feminino e trabalham na rede de atenção básica da cidade de Salvador (BA). Os dados foram analisados pelo método hermenêutico-dialético. Nota-se que a maioria das percepções foi associada à questão biologizante da raça/cor e à noção de cuidado voltado à visão universalista do sujeito, o que implicou a ausência de ações direcionadas à promoção da saúde de mulheres negras. Contudo, observou-se a percepção interseccional e o letramento racial nos relatos de três das participantes, o que possibilitou o desenvolvimento de tentativas de práticas antirracistas e antissexistas. Conclui-se que ainda se faz necessário explorar ações da psicologia que visem à promoção da saúde de mulheres negras e que possam associar a teoria com a prática.

Abstract This article aims to analyze how psychologists who work in primary care, perceive the influence of the psychosocial effects of racism and sexism in their practices and in the health and care process provided to black women. This is a qualitative research with a descriptive and exploratory character, following the critical social psychology framework. A theoretical-methodological survey was carried out about the main subjects, as well as the production of the data collection instrument and the semi-structured interviews. The study included eight psychologists who serve the female public and work in the primary care network in the municipality of Salvador (BA). Data were analyzed by the hermeneutic-dialectical method. Most perceptions were associated with the biologizing issue of race/color and the notion of care aimed at the universalist view of the subject, which implied the absence of actions aimed at promoting the health of black women. However, the intersectional perception and racial literacy were observed in the reports of three of the participants, which enabled the development of attempts at anti-racist and anti-sexist practices. In conclusion, exploring psychology actions aimed at promoting the health of black women and that can associate theory with practice is still necessary.

Abstract Objective to report the process of developing an online focus group as a data collection technique in qualitative research. Method this is an experience report on the development of an online focus group for data collection with teaching nurses linked to the supervised internship of Primary Health Care at a public university in the interior of Ceará, carried out in March 2020. Results the planning phases of the synchronous online focus group were: (1) structuring of the approach; (2) construction of the guide instrument; (3) group composition; and, (4) development of the group process. This provided accessibility, participant adherence, cost reduction, less participant abstention and speed to collect, record and analyze data. A satisfactory result was obtained, standing out as a concrete possibility of data collection technique in qualitative research. Conclusion and implications for practice the data collection strategy through the online focus group can contribute to the construction of knowledge in the health sector and nursing to carry out qualitative research.

Resumen Objetivo reportar el proceso de desarrollo de un grupo focal en línea como técnica de recolección de datos en investigación cualitativa. Método este es un relato de experiencia sobre el desarrollo de un grupo focal en línea para la recolección de datos con enfermeras docentes vinculadas a la pasantía supervisada de Atención Primaria de Salud en una universidad pública del interior de Ceará, realizada en marzo de 2020. Resultados las fases de planificación del grupo focal en línea sincrónico fueron: (1) estructuración del enfoque; (2) construcción del instrumento guía; (3) composición del grupo; y, (4) desarrollo del proceso de grupo. Esto proporcionó accesibilidad, adherencia de los participantes, reducción de costos, menor abstención de los participantes y rapidez en la recolección, registro y análisis de datos. Se obtuvo un resultado satisfactorio, destacándose como posibilidad concreta de técnica de recolección de datos en la investigación cualitativa. Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica la estrategia de recolección de datos a través del grupo focal en línea puede contribuir a la construcción de conocimiento en el sector salud y enfermería para realizar investigaciones cualitativas.

Resumo Objetivo relatar o processo de desenvolvimento de grupo focal on-line como técnica de coleta de dados em pesquisas qualitativas. Método trata-se de relato de experiência do desenvolvimento de um grupo focal on-line para a coleta de dados com os enfermeiros docentes vinculados ao estágio supervisionado da Atenção Básica em Saúde de uma universidade pública do interior do Ceará, realizado em março de 2020. Resultados as fases de planejamento do grupo focal on-line síncrono foram: (1) estruturação da abordagem; (2) construção do instrumento-guia; (3) composição do grupo; e, (4) desenvolvimento do processo grupal. Este oportunizou a acessibilidade, a adesão dos participantes, a redução de custos, a menor abstenção dos participantes e a rapidez para coletar, registar e analisar os dados. Obteve-se resultado satisfatório, destacando-se como uma possibilidade concreta de técnica de coleta de dados, em pesquisas qualitativas. Conclusões e implicações para a prática a estratégia de coleta de dados por meio do grupo focal on-line pode contribuir para a construção do conhecimento na área da saúde e Enfermagem para a realização de pesquisas qualitativas.

ABSTRACT The effects of diets containing oilseeds were measured to evaluate the productive and economic parameters in the finishing of young, feedlot Nellore bulls. Twenty-four young Nellore bulls were used, with an initial body weight (BW) of 311.46±0.37 kg and 24 months of age, distributed into individual stalls ( 4 × 20 m) in a completely randomized design, totaling four treatments with six repetitions per treatment. Four diets (control, based on corn and soybean meal, and three diets containing cottonseed, soybean, and sunflower) were evaluated. Feed and orts were measured daily to calculate intake and costs. The dry matter intake of the control group was higher than soybean (10.64 kg/day), cotton (9.88 kg/day), and sunflower (9.30 kg/day) treatments, respectively. The cottonseed treatment showed the highest average neutral detergent fiber intake. There was a dietary effect of diets on average daily gain, total weight gain, and final weight. The soybean treatment showed the highest performance, total gain (232.55 kg), and final weight (544.38 kg). Oilseed intake can modify the fatty acids profile in the meat, decreasing its saturated fatty acid content. Whole soybean seed favors performance, improves feed efficiency, fatty acid profile, and fat distribution in the carcass, and can reduce production costs.

Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the genetic variability and performance of the agronomic traits of wheat cultivars in the southern region of Minas Gerais for the purpose of choosing parents for a rainfed wheat breeding program. We evaluated 78 wheat cultivars in two locations in Minas Gerais regarding different agronomic traits. The statistical analyses were carried out using Henderson’s mixed-model approach. The genetic values of the cultivars were predicted, and the heritabilities and accuracies were estimated for selection of cultivars. The cultivar × location interaction was decomposed into its simple and complex fractions. The genetic and environmental correlations between the traits were estimated, and selection was made for multiple traits using the sum of the standardized variables (Z-index). The genetic variance was significant for all the traits, and the cultivar × location interaction was significant. By the Z-index, 15 wheat cultivars more adapted were identified.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze scientific evidence on changes in the myocardial injury marker troponin and clinical outcome in patients hospitalized with COVID-19. Method: A scoping review was adopted, in the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Scientific Electronic Library Online and Virtual Health Library bases, from May to July 2022. Using as descriptors: Troponin; COVID-19; Cardiovascular System. Results: 23 studies revealed cardiac alterations in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 by examining the cardio specific biomarker troponin, in addition to relating it to high mortality rates. Studies have shown a great relationship between acute myocardial injury, evidenced by elevated troponin, and a worse outcome during hospitalization. Conclusion: Cardiovascular changes were mapped in patients hospitalized with COVID -19 who progressed to severe cases of the disease. This study can contribute to care planning through protocols aimed at clinical management, specific for patients with the disease, both in the acute phase and in the post- COVID -19 phase.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar la evidencia científica sobre los cambios en el marcador de lesión miocárdica troponina y el resultado clínico en pacientes hospitalizados con Covid-19.Método: Se adoptó una revisión del alcance, en las bases Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online, Scientific Electronic Library Online y Biblioteca Virtual de Salud, de mayo a julio de 2022. Utilizando como descriptores: troponin; covid-19; cardiovascular system. Resultados: 23 estudios revelaron alteraciones cardiacas en pacientes hospitalizados por COVID-19 mediante el examen del biomarcador cardioespecífico troponina, además de relacionarlo con altas tasas de mortalidad. Los estudios han demostrado una fuerte relación entre la lesión miocárdica aguda, evidenciada por la elevación de la troponina, y un peor pronóstico durante la hospitalización. Conclusión: Se mapearon alteraciones cardiovasculares en pacientes hospitalizados con Covid-19 que progresaron a enfermedad grave. Este estudio puede contribuir a la planificación asistencial mediante protocolos dirigidos al manejo clínico, específicos para pacientes con la enfermedad, tanto en la fase aguda como en la fase post-Covid-19.

Utilizando como descritores: troponin; covid-19; cardiovascular system. Resultados: 23 estudos revelaram alterações cardíacas em pacientes hospitalizados com Covid-19 pelo exame do biomarcador cardioespecífico troponina, além de relacioná-lo a altas taxas de mortalidade. Estudos têm demonstrado grande relação entre lesão miocárdica aguda, evidenciada por elevação da troponina a um pior desfecho durante a hospitalização. Conclusão: Mapearam-se as alterações cardiovasculares de pacientes hospitalizados com Covid-19 que evoluíram para quadros graves da doença. Este estudo pode contribuir para o planejamento assistencial através de protocolos voltados para o manejo clínico, específicos para pacientes com a doença, tanto na fase aguda quando na fase pós Covid-19.

Abstract Objectives: to evaluate associated factors with sexual dysfunction among middle-aged women. Methods: cross-sectional and analytical study was carried out with climacteric women attended at a Family Health Strategy Unit in the city of Montes Claros, MG. Brazil. The eligible women answered a question form containing sociodemographic, behavioral, anthropometric, gynecological factors and sexuality. The Body Mass Index and waist circumference were used to assess nutritional status and metabolic risk. To evaluate quality of life and sexual performance the Menopause Rating Scale and the Sexual Quotient - Female Version were used, respectively. Bivariate analysis and hierarchical multiple regression were used to identify associated factors with sexual dysfunction in the climacteric period. Results: among 195 women, 29.6% had sexual dysfunction. The prevalence of unsatisfactory sexual performance was higher among women who reported moderate to severe climacteric symptoms (OR=2.47) and lower schooling level was also associated (OR=1.95). However, age at menarche below 12 years (OR=0.43) and non-white (OR=0.36) seem to have a protective effect for good sexual performance. Conclusion: the prevalence of sexual dysfunction was high and the level of schooling and climacteric symptomatology were associated factors with this outcome.

Resumo Objetivos: avaliar os fatores associados à disfunção sexual entre as mulheres de meia-idade. Métodos: estudo de corte transversal e analítico realizado com mulheres climatéricas atendidas em uma Unidade de Estratégia de Saúde da Família no município de Montes Claros-MG, Brasil. As mulheres elegíveis responderam a um formulário contendo questões sociodemográficas, comportamentais, antropométricas, fatores ginecológicos e sexualidade. Utilizou-se o Índice e Massa Corporal e a circunferência da cintura para avaliar o estado nutricional e risco metabólico. Para avaliar a qualidade de vida e o desempenho sexual foram utilizados a Menopause Rating Scale e o Quociente Sexual -Versão Feminina, respectivamente. Empregou-se análise bivariada e regressão múltipla hierarquizada para identificar fatores associados à disfunção sexual no climatério. Resultados: dentre 195 mulheres, 29,6% apresentaram disfunção sexual. A prevalência de desempenho sexual insatisfatório foi maior entre as mulheres que declararam sintomas climatéricos moderados a graves (OR = 2,47) e o menor grau de escolaridade (OR = 1,95). No entanto, a idade da menarca abaixo de 12 anos (OR = 0,43) e a cor de pele não branca (OR = 0,36) parecem ter efeito protetor para o bom desempenho sexual. Conclusão: a prevalência de disfunção sexual foi elevada e o nível de escolaridade e a sintomatologia climatérica foram fatores associados a esse resultado.

Abstract Objectives: microbiological quality of raw human milk (HM) from donors at the HMB (Human Milk Bank) of Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Ouro Preto was evaluated. Methods: the microbiological quality of milk from each of 10 donors in triplicate (30 samples) was evaluated by enumeration of Staphylococcus aureus and total aerobic mesophiles (surface plating) and total and thermotolerant coliforms (Most Probable Number - MPN). A questionnaire and a checklist were applied after the end of sample collection to verify the compliance of milk extraction and storage procedures by the donors. Results: inadequacies in the procedures for expression and storage of donated HM were observed. The presence of all microorganisms studied were verified in the milk of all donors, and in some cases exceeded the safety limits. The checklist indicated that some necessary hygienic-sanitary procedures were not carefully performed, making it important to properly guide the donors. Conclusions: this study points to an unfavorable scenario for the safety and quality of donated HM, and it is important to encourage further studies to be conducted so that the Brazilian network of HMB adopts stricter criteria for instructions on procedures and support for HM donors.

Resumo Objetivos: avaliou-se a qualidade microbiológica do leite humano (LH) cru de doadoras do Banco de Leite Humano (BLH) da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de Ouro Preto. Métodos: a qualidade microbiológica do leite de cada uma das 10 doadoras em triplicata (30 amostras) foi avaliada por meio da enumeração de Staphylococcus aureus e mesóflos aeróbios totais (plaqueamento em superfície) e coliformes totais e termotolerantes (Número Mais Provável -NMP). Para verificar a conformidade dos procedimentos de extração e armazenamento do leite pelas doadoras, aplicou-se um questionário e um checklist após o término da coleta das amostras. Resultados: observou-se inadequações nos procedimentos de expressão e armazenamento do LH doado. A presença de todos os microrganismos estudados foram verificados no leite de todas as doadoras e, em alguns casos, excedeu os limites de segurança. O checklist indicou que alguns procedimentos higiênico-sanitários necessários não foram realizados criteriosamente, tornando importante orientar adequadamente as doadoras. Conclusões: este estudo aponta um cenário desfavorável para a segurança e a qualidade do LH doado, sendo importante incentivar mais estudos a serem realizados para que a rede brasileira de BLH adote critérios mais rigorosos de instruções sobre procedimentos e suporte para doadoras de LH.

Abstract We hypothesize that lambs fed diets with different lipids sources from oilseeds would similar performance but fatty acids profile of meat superior to those fed with conventional diets. We evaluated the effects of inclusion of oilseeds on the ingestive behaviour, performance, carcass trait and meat quality in feedlot lambs. Three isonitrogenous (18.31% crude protein) diets were evaluated, where one diet was the standard (control), and the others two diets contained soybean and cottonseed. Fifteen Texel lambs, weighting 28.5 ± 1.65 kg were distributed in a completely randomized design by 56 days. Animals fed soybean diet demonstrated greater final body weight when compared to animals fed cottonseed diet and standard diet. The inclusion of cottonseed provided lower average daily gain and total weight gain. Ingestive behaviour of the animals fed diets with grains resulted in greater rumination time. Lambs fed cottonseed diet spent greater time during rumination and presented greater number of chews/day. The hot carcass and cold carcass weight presented lower values in animals fed cottonseeds diet. There was no significant difference in meat for marbling, maturity, fat texture and shear force. Meat from animals fed soybean diet had highest fat content. There was a diet effect for fatty acids composition in the meat. Meat of lambs treated with soybean have greater amounts for fatty acids mostly the unsaturated ones, related to the decrease in cholesterol levels, and lower risk of cardiovascular diseases, thus, lambs fed soybean enrich meat produced with fatty acids that benefit human health.

Abstract This study aimed to characterize the profile of dental anxiety in pediatric patients, identifying the effect exerted by socioeconomic factors using dental data. A cross-sectional study design with a sample of 120 children aged 7–12 years old was used. Data relating to anxiety levels prior to dental care, socioeconomic aspects (family income, education level, child’s school type), and child’s dental history (previous dental appointments, previous treatment, caries experience) were collected. Additionally, participants completed the Brazilian version of the Children’s Fear Survey Schedule- Dental Subscale (B-CFSS-DS) to assess dental anxiety. Descriptive analyses, chi-squared (X 2 ) tests, and Mann-Whitney U tests were performed, with a significance level of 5%. A total of 51 boys (42.5%) and 69 girls (57.5%) were included. There was no significant difference in dental anxiety between them. However, younger children had higher mean B-CFSS-DS scores (p = 0.036, Mann-Whitney). A higher prevalence of dental anxiety was found in participants from low-income families (p = 0.012, X 2 ) and in patients who did not receive endodontic treatment (p=0.034, X 2 ). Higher mean B-CFSS-DS scores were also observed in participants who did not receive endodontic treatment (p=0.001, Mann-Whitney) compared with those that did receive endodontic treatment. No relationship was found between education level, patient school type, first dental appointment, caries experience, and dental anxiety data. Younger children presented a profile of greater dental anxiety. Socioeconomic factors and dental data exerted some effect on dental anxiety, where children from low-income families and those not subjected to endodontic treatment displayed higher rates of dental anxiety.

Abstract Jabuticaba is a fruit sensory appreciated and has significant nutritional and functional value. However, it is quite perishable, and its use is interesting for the preparation of other products such as fermented jabuticaba, from a nutritional, biological and technological point of view. This study evaluated the interference of maceration time over antioxidant capacity, volatile compounds profile and temporal dominant sensation of fermented jabuticaba. Four different treatments of fermented jabuticaba in different fermentation times were prepared (96, 120, 144 and 168 h). After preparation, total monomeric anthocyanin content, total antioxidant activity by 2,2-azino-bis 3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid and iron reduction method, volatile compounds profile by gas chromatography and sensory analysis of temporal dominance of sensations were performed of fermented jabuticaba. The highest concentration of total anthocyanins (25.81 mg/100 g) and antioxidant activity (78.34 μmol Trolox/g e 84.69 μM FeSO4/g) of jabuticaba is in its skin. Regarding the antioxidant activity by FRAP method, the fermented beverages presented higher value than the whole fruit. However, after 96 h of maceration, the values decreased, followed by an increase after 144 h. In all maceration times the predominant sensation was acidic taste, initially and then astringency, the most persistent sensation in all treatments. However, there was a downward trend in this sensation with the increase in maceration time, as well as isoamyl alcohol content.
