Resumo A expansão da agricultura na área de transição Amazônia-Savana diminuiu muito a cobertura florestal, influenciando a estrutura e o funcionamento dos sistemas de riachos. Avaliamos o efeito da perda de cobertura florestal na integridade dos riachos avaliando as condições físicas do ambiente e a diversidade taxonômica e funcional das assembleias de peixes nesta área de transição. Nossa hipótese é que a baixa cobertura florestal, especialmente adjacente ao riacho, resulta em más condições físicas (por exemplo, temperaturas mais quentes, e menos estrutura física) o que por sua vez diminuirá os valores da diversidade taxonômica e funcional das assembleias de peixes. Detectamos que a perda de cobertura florestal afeta negativamente as condições naturais e reduz a diversidade funcional das assembleias de peixes, mas não encontramos um efeito para a diversidade taxonômica. Predadores de emboscada e espreita, catadores de superfície diurnos, pastores, catadores e navegadores foram os grupos funcionais que tiveram a relação mais forte com ambientes alterados. Esses grupos podem explorar diferentes nichos, tanto com características naturais quanto alterados pela ação antrópica. Nossos resultados sugerem a preservação da zona ripária a fim de evitar a perda de espécies especializadas das assembleias de peixes de riachos.

Abstract The expansion of agriculture in the southeast Amazon-Savanah transitional area has greatly decreased forest cover and influenced stream structure and functioning. We assessed the effects of forest cover loss on the integrity of streams by assessing stream physical conditions and the taxonomic and functional diversity of fish assemblages in this transitional area. We hypothesize that low forest cover, especially adjacent to streams, results in poor physical conditions (e.g., warmer temperatures, less physical structure, etc.), which in turn will decrease the taxonomic and functional diversity of fish assemblages. We detected that loss of forest cover negatively affects natural stream conditions and reduces the functional diversity of fish assemblages, but we did not find a strong effect on taxonomic diversity. Ambush and stalking predators, diurnal surface pickers (groups that exhibit opportunistic life history strategies), grazers, pickers, and browsers (groups that exhibit equilibrium life history strategies) were the functional groups with the strongest relation to altered environments. These groups can explore different niches, both with natural characteristics or altered by human activities. Our results suggest that the preservation of riparian zones can minimize the loss of specialized fish species in assemblages of Amazon-Savannah stream systems.

Abstract The transforming growth factors beta (TGFβ) are local factors produced by ovarian cells which, after binding to their receptors, regulate follicular deviation and ovulation. However, their regulation and function during corpus luteum (CL) regression has been poorly investigated. The present study evaluated the mRNA regulation of some TGFβ family ligands and their receptors in the bovine CL during induced luteolysis in vivo. On day 10 of the estrous cycle, cows received an injection of prostaglandin F2α (PGF) and luteal samples were obtained from separate groups of cows (n= 4-5 cows per time-point) at 0, 2, 12, 24 or 48 h after treatment. Since TGF beta family comprises more than 30 ligands, we focused in some candidates genes such as activin receptors (ACVR-1A, -1B, -2A, -2B) AMH, AMHR2, BMPs (BMP-1, -2, -3, -4, -6 and -7), BMP receptors (BMPR-1A, -1B and -2), inhibin subunits (INH-A, -BA, -BB) and betaglycan (TGFBR3). The mRNA levels of BMP4, BMP6 and INHBA were higher at 2 h after PGF administration (P<0.05) in comparison to 0 h. The relative mRNA abundance of BMP1, BMP2, BMP3, BMP4, BMP6, ACVR1B, INHBA and INHBB was upregulated up to 12 h post PGF (P<0.05). On the other hand, TGFBR3 mRNA that codes for a reservoir of ligands that bind to TGF-beta receptors, was lower at 48 h. In conclusion, findings from this study demonstrated that genes encoding several TGFβ family members are expressed in a time-specific manner after PGF administration.

Resumo: Objetivo Nosso objetivo neste estudo é entender a distribuição de espécies de Cladocera ao longo de um gradiente ambiental em florestas e paisagens agrícolas no sul da Amazônia. Métodos Coletamos comunidades de Cladocera e variáveis ambientais em cinco riachos e verificamos suas associações com uma Análise de Redundância. Resultados Acroperus tupinamba, Alonella dadayi e Kisakiellus aweti foram mais associados a locais com maior cobertura do dossel. Já Anthalona neotropica, Anthalona verrucose e Flavalona iheringula ocorreram exclusivamente no local com maior profundidade de talvegue. Conclusões Se estes resultados forem confirmados, as comunidades de Cladocera de riachos são afetadas por mudanças no uso da terra. Mais estudos nessa linha são extremamente necessários para reduzir essa lacuna de conhecimento.

Abstract: Aim Our objective in this study is to understand Cladocera species distribution along an environmental gradient in forest and cropland landscapes in the southern Amazon. Methods We collected Cladocera communities and environmental variables from five streams and verified their associations with a Redundancy Analysis. Results Acroperus tupinamba, Alonella dadayi e Kisakiellus aweti were mostly associated to sites with higher canopy cover. Anthalona neotropica, Anthalona verrucose and Flavalona iheringula occurred exclusively in site with more thalweg depth. Conclusions If these results are confirmed Cladocera stream communities are affected by changes in land use. Further studies in this line are extremely necessary to reduce this knowledge gap.

Resumo Este estudo tem como objetivo avaliar se a autoeficácia na formação superior pode predizer a satisfação com a experiência acadêmica. Participaram do estudo 372 universitários (66,4% do sexo feminino) de uma instituição de ensino superior paulista, com idade entre 17 e 53 anos (M = 22,84; DP = 6,09). Os instrumentos utilizados foram as Escalas de Autoeficácia na Formação Superior e a Escala de Satisfação com a Experiência Acadêmica. Uma análise de regressão múltipla indicou que o conjunto das facetas da autoeficácia acadêmica explicou grande parte da variância da satisfação acadêmica total (aproximadamente 64%), sendo que a faceta interação social apresentou coeficiente de regressão elevado (β = 0,79; p < 0,001). Esses resultados indicam que a autoeficácia é uma importante preditora da satisfação acadêmica.

Abstract This study aims to evaluate the possible predictive role of self-efficacy in higher education regarding student satisfaction with the academic experience. Three hundred and seventy-two university students from the state of São Paulo (66.4% female) participated this study, aged between 17 - 53 years (M = 22.84, SD = 6.09). The instruments used were the Higher Education Self-efficacy Scale and the Academic Experience Satisfaction Scale. A multiple regression analysis indicated the facets of academic self-efficacy explained considerable amount of variance in academic satisfaction (approximately 64%), and the social interaction self-efficacy facet presented a high regression coefficient (β = 0.79; p < 0.001). These findings indicate that self-efficacy constitutes an important predictor of academic satisfaction.

RESUMO A expansão da fronteira agrícola amazônica representa a mais ampla mudança na cobertura e uso da terra no mundo contemporâneo, e ameaça a integridade de ecossistemas de riachos que abrigam a maior diversidade de peixes de água doce do planeta. Nosso objetivo foi testar as hipóteses de que o desmatamento afeta a abundância, a riqueza e a estrutura taxonômica de assembleias de peixes em riachos de cabeceira na bacia do alto rio Xingu, no sudeste da Amazônia. Por meio de amostragens padronizadas realizadas em riachos de primeira ordem, demonstramos que o desmatamento influencia fortemente a estrutura das assembleias de peixes. Riachos em áreas desmatadas tiveram o dobro da abundância de peixes que riachos em áreas florestadas. Essas diferenças na estrutura das assembleias foram em grande parte causadas pelo aumento na abundância de algumas poucas espécies, já que nenhuma influência do desmatamento na riqueza de espécies foi observada. A cobertura de dossel sobre os riachos foi o mais forte preditor da estrutura das assembleias, possivelmente por uma combinação de efeitos diretos e indiretos relacionados à provisão de detritos florestais, recursos alimentares, morfologia dos canais, e regulação micro-climática. Dada a natureza dinâmica da mudança na cobertura e uso da terra na região, este artigo é uma contribuição importante para a compreensão dos efeitos a longo prazo do desmatamento nos peixes de riachos amazônicos e, portanto, para sua conservação.

ABSTRACT The expansion of the Amazonian agricultural frontier represents the most extensive land cover change in the world, detrimentally affecting stream ecosystems which collectively harbor the greatest diversity of freshwater fish on the planet. Our goal was to test the hypotheses that deforestation affects the abundance, richness, and taxonomic structure of headwater stream fish assemblages in the Upper Xingu River Basin, in Southeastern Amazonia. Standardized sampling surveys in replicated first order streams demonstrated that deforestation strongly influences fish assemblage structure. Deforested stream reaches had twice the fish abundance than reference stream reaches in primary forests. These differences in assemblage structure were largely driven by increases in the abundance of a handful of species, as no influence of deforestation on species richness was observed. Stream canopy cover was the strongest predictor of assemblage structure, possibly by a combination of direct and indirect effects on the provision of forest detritus, food resources, channel morphology, and micro-climate regulation. Given the dynamic nature of change in land cover and use in the region, this article is an important contribution to the understanding of the effects of deforestation on Amazonian stream fish, and their conservation.

Resumo: O objetivo do estudo foi o de analisar comparativamente a competitividade econômico-financeira das cooperativas agroindustriais, do oeste do Paraná, utilizando-se do procedimento metodológico de análise de cluster ou agrupamento. A análise serviu para classificar hierarquicamente em categorias de agrupamentos e medir o grau de competitividade das cooperativas. Os dados foram apropriados numa série temporal de 2011 a 2014. Com os resultados alcançados pelas cooperativas, nos aspectos de classificação hierárquica, através do gráfico dendograma (árvore), demonstrou-se que as ações de gestão, no que se referem à sustentabilidade econômico-financeira, são díspares. Nos aspectos de medidas de competitividade, classificou-se a cooperativa Copacol como a mais competitiva, comparada aos padrões estabelecidos.

Abstract: The aim of the study was to analyze comparatively the economic and financial competitiveness of agro-industrial cooperatives, the western Paraná, using the methodological procedure of cluster analysis or grouping. The analysis served to classify hierarchically in groups of categories and measure the degree of competitiveness of cooperatives. Data were appropriate in a time series from 2011 to 2014. The results achieved by the cooperatives, in the aspects of hierarchical classification, through the dendrogram graph (tree), it was shown that management actions, in referring to the economic financial sustainability, is mixed. The aspects of competitiveness measures, Copacol was ranked as the most competitive cooperative, compared to set standards.

O presente estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a capacidade crioprotetora das lipoproteínas de baixa densidade (LDL) presentes no plasma de gema de ovo, adicionado ao trihidroxiaminometano (TRIS) para congelar sêmen ovino. Trinta e seis ejaculados foram coletados para formar 12 "pool". Cada alíquota de sêmen foi diluída em TRIS-gema de ovo (TRISG) ou TRIS- plasma de gema de ovo (TRISP) antes de congelar o sêmen. Para a obtenção do plasma da gema de ovo, foi utilizado o método de ultracentrifugação. Após o descongelamento, não houve diferença entre os dois extensores em relação aos parâmetros seminais (motilidade, viabilidade, membrana acrossômica e plasma). No entanto, no Teste de Termo Resistência Lenta (TTRL - 4h/38°C), o sêmen congelado com TRISP resultou no aumento do número de espermatozoides com acrossoma intacto (P<0,032). Conclui-se que o diluente TRISP é uma alternativa para criopreservação do sêmen de carneiros, pois permite uma melhora da característica seminal em relação ao diluente TRIS gema, mas sem a necessidade do processo de purificação das LDL.

The present study aimed to evaluate the cryoprotectant low-density lipoprotein (LDL) present in the plasma of egg yolk added to the extender trihidroxiaminometano (TRIS) for freezing ram semen. Thirty-six ejaculates were collected to form 12 pool. Each aliquot of semen was diluted in TRIS-egg yolk (TRISG) or TRIS-egg yolk plasma (TRISP) before freezing the semen. The plasma of egg yolk was obtained by ultracentrifugation. After thawing, no difference was detected between the two extenders in relation to seminal parameters (motility, viability, plasma membrane and acrosome). However, in the thermal resistance slow test (4h in a water bath at 38°C), the semen frozen with TRISP resulted in higher number of sperm with intact acrosome than those with TRISG (P<0.032). It was concluded that the TRISP extender is an alternative for cryopreservation of ram semen, once it improves the semen characteristics in comparison to TRISG, avoiding the purification process of LDL.

A inseminação artificial é usada rotineiramente na indústria suinícula para reduzir os custos de produção além de obter maior eficiência reprodutiva durante o processo de resfriamento do sêmen. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o efeito da adição de diferentes concentrações de cisteína (CIS) ao diluidor de sêmen Beltsville Thawing Solution (BTS) resfriado sobre a qualidade espermática por até 72 horas. Foram coletados ejaculados de três cachaços e as amostras de sêmen foram diluídas em BTS, conforme os seguintes tratamentos: BTS (grupo controle); CIS0,1 (BTS + 0,1mM de cisteína); CIS0,5 (BTS + 0,5mM de cisteína); CIS1,0 (BTS + 1,0mM de cisteína); CIS2,5 (BTS + 2,5mM de cisteína); CIS5,0 (BTS + 5,0mM de cisteína); CIS10,0 (BTS + 10,0mM de cisteína) e CIS20,0 (BTS + 20,0mM de cisteína). A avaliação da integridade espermática foi determinada através de sondas fluorescentes em uma combinação de 100µg/mL FICT-PSA (isotiocinato de lecitina), 0.5mg/ml PI (iodeto de propidio), e 153µM JC-1 (5,5',6,6'-tetracloro-1,1',3,3'-tetraetillbenzimidazolil iodeto de carbocianina). As avaliações dos tratamentos foram realizadas 0, 24, 48 e 72 horas após a diluição do sêmen. Adicionalmente, foi avaliado o efeito da adição de 5,0 mM de cisteína ao diluidor BTS na manutenção da qualidade espermática e no efeito na fertilidade em suínos. Após a inseminação artificial, as fêmeas foram avaliadas quanto a taxa de retorno e o tamanho da leitegada. Durante todos os períodos analizados, os grupos CIS10,0 e CIS20,0 apresentaram menor número de espermatozóides viáveis em relação aos demais grupos. A viabilidade espermática diminuiu a níveis abaixo de 10% nos tratamentos CIS10,0 e CIS20,0 nas primeiras 24 horas de armazenamento a 17ºC. Ao final do período de armazenamento todos os grupos apresentavam média inferior a 65% de espermatozóides com a membrana plasmática intacta. A viabilidade espermática diminuiu significativamente quando altas concentrações de CIS (hora "0"; CIS10,0 e CIS20,0; p<0.05) foram adicionadas ao sêmen comparadas com as demais concentrações. O grupo BTS (10,20±0,39) apresentou menor taxa de retorno ao estro comparado com BTSCIS (86,05±0,39), além de apresentar maior número de leitões nascidos (12,71±3,38 vs . 9,00±3,38, respectivamente). Portanto, podemos concluir que a adição de CIS ao diluidor BTS não mantém a qualidade espermática e resulta em maior taxa de retorno ao estro e menor número de leitões nascidos.

Artificial insemination is routinely used in the swine industry to reduce the costs of production through to increase the efficiency of the refrigerated boar semen process. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different levels of cysteine (CYS) added to the Beltsville Thawing Solution (BTS) extender semen during cooling for up to 72 hours. Ejaculated from three boars were collected with the gloved-hand technique and semen aliquots were diluted in BTS as follow: BTS only (BTS), BTS + 0.1mM cysteine (CYS0.1), BTS + 0.5mM cysteine (CYS0.5), BTS + 1.0mM cysteine (CYS1.0), BTS + 2.5mM cysteine (CYS2.5), BTS + 5.0mM cysteine (CYS5.0), BTS + 10.0mM cysteine (CYS10.0), and BTS + 20.0mM cysteine (CYS20.0). Evaluation of sperm integrity were analyzed using 0.5mg/ml propidium iodide (plasma membrane), 100µg/ml isothiocynate-conjugated Pisum sativun agglutinin (acrosomal membrane) and 153µM 5,5',6,6'-tetrachloro-1,1',3,3'-tetraethylbenzimidazolyl carbocyanine iodide (mitochondria potential) after semen dilution at specific times (0, 24, 48 and 72 hours). Additionally, we also evaluated the effects of 5.0 mM CYS addition in the BTS extender on the maintenance of sperm quality and their influence on fertility in the swine production. After artificial insemination, animals were evaluated based on the estrous return and the number of piglet's born. Cysteine at concentrations of 10.0 and 20.0mM resulted in more pronounced reductions even at the time zero. Semen viability decreased to levels below 10% at these high levels of CYS in the first 24 hour of storage at 17ºC. At the end of the storage time, less than 65% of sperm cells had intact plasma membrane in all groups. The sperm viability decreased significantly when the semen was added at high concentrations of CYS (time "0"; CYS10.0 and CYS20.0; p<0.05), when compared to the other CYS concentrations. The BTS (10.20±0.39) treated group showed a lower rate of estrus return when compared to other (BTSCYS; 86.05±039), and it showed also the highest total number of piglets borne per treatment (12.71±3.38 vs. 9.00±3.38, respectively). In conclusion, the addition of CYS in the BTS semen extender did not maintain spermatic viability of boar cooled spermatozoa and it results in a higher percentage of return to estrus and lower number of piglets borne.

INTRODUÇÃO: Atorvastatina 80 mg é recomendada a pacientes portadores de doença coronária para redução de eventos cardiovasculares, havendo controvérsia sobre as interações farmacocinéticas entre doses elevadas das estatinas e uso concomitante de clopidogrel, por compartilharem a mesma via de biotransformação. Este estudo avaliou os efeitos da terapia combinada atorvastatina/clopidogrel na farmacocinética da estatina e função plaquetária em pacientes com doença coronária estável, sob uso crônico e efetivo de estatina MÉTODO: Os pacientes foram admitidos quatro vezes para internação (V1 a V4) em leito-dia. Sete dias (D) antes da primeira internação a estatina em uso foi suspensa. A seguir, receberam atorvastatina 80 mg (D1 a D22) e clopidogrel 75 mg/dia (D8 a D29). Em todas as V foram obtidas amostras de sangue em jejum para dosagens lipídicas, avaliação da função plaquetária (técnica da placa e cone) e quantificação dos níveis plasmáticos de atorvastatina (cromatografia líquida e espectrometria de massa) RESULTADOS: A suspensão por uma semana da estatina modificou o perfil lipídico (P < 0,05 vs. basal), ocorrendo rápida melhora de todas as frações lipídicas após atorvastatina 80 mg (P < 0,005; V1 > V2, V3 e V4). A adesão plaquetária foi menor com clopidogrel isolado (P = 0,003; V4 < V1, V2 e V3), enquanto para a agregação houve menor valor com tratamento combinado atorvastatina/clopidogrel ou clopidogrel isolado comparado aos demais períodos (P < 0,0001; V3 e V4 < V1 e V2). O clopidogrel não modificou as concentrações de atorvastatina CONCLUSÃO: Atorvastatina em alta dose não afetou as respostas plaquetárias ao clopidogrel; entretanto, curto período de suspensão da estatina piorou o perfil lipídico e a função plaquetária.

BACKGROUND: Atorvastatin 80 mg is recommended in patients with coronary artery disease to reduce cardiovascular events, however, there is controversy regarding the pharmacokinetic interactions between high doses of statins and the concomitant use of clopidogrel, since they share the same biotransformation pathway. This study evaluated the effects of the atorvastatin/clopidogrel combination therapy on the pharmacokinetics of statins and on platelet function of patients with stable coronary artery disease receiving chronic statins METHOD: Patients were admitted four times (V1 to V4) to a day-clinic. Statin was discontinued seven days (D) before the first admission. Patients then received atorvastatin 80 mg (D1 to D22) and clopidogrel 75 mg/day (D8 to D29). Fasting blood samples were obtained at all time points for lipid measurements, platelet function tests (cone and plate technique), and quantification of atorvastatin plasma levels (liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry) RESULTS: The discontinuation of statins for one week changed the lipid profile (P < 0.05 vs. baseline), with an early improvement of all lipid parameters after the administration of atorvastatin 80 mg (P < 0.005; V1 > V2, V3 and V4). Platelet adhesion was lower with clopidogrel alone (P = 0.003; V4 < V1, V2 and V3), whereas platelet aggregation values were lower following the atorvastatin/clopidogrel combination therapy or clopidogrel alone when compared to the other time points (P < 0.0001; V3 and V4 < V1 and V2). The use of clopidogrel did not affect atorvastatin serum levels CONCLUSION: High-dose atorvastatin did not affect platelet responses to clopidogrel, however the short-term statin discontinuation worsened the lipid profile and platelet function.

Este estudo analisa o potencial exportador do setor brasileiro de carne bovina frente à suposição de futuros acordos de integração regional. Os países ou blocos escolhidos são: União Européia (UE), Acordo de Livre Comércio da América do Norte (Nafta), Comunidade dos Estados Independentes (CEI), República Popular da China (RPC) e Japão. Para analisar o potencial exportador do setor de carnes, foram desenvolvidos quatro generalizações metodológicas: o potencial importador dos países, o cálculo da evolução do Índice de Vantagem Revelada das Exportações do Brasil e de seus principais concorrentes, pesquisa bibliográfica das principais barreiras existentes e cálculo do Índice de Orientação Regional. Os resultados, quanto ao potencial importador, indicam que a União Européia (UE) constitui-se altamente atrativo para a carne bovina. Os resultados do cálculo das vantagens comparativas revelaram que o Brasil tem alta e crescente competitividade no setor de carnes para o período 1990 a 2003. Quanto aos concorrentes no interior de cada bloco ou país, a União Européia é que apresentou o maior concorrente. Quanto às barreiras impostas, estas revelaram ser, de modo geral, extremamente elevadas e, em alguns casos, impeditivas. Portanto, o setor brasileiro de carnes teria muito a ganhar caso fossem eliminadas tais barreiras. Enfim, na última relação, constata-se alto grau de aceitação das exportações brasileiras de carne bovina àqueles blocos que não têm barreiras sanitárias impeditivas. Contudo, ao cruzar os resultados para o setor, observa-se que, a partir da efetivação de acordos de livre comércio inter-regionais, via Mercosul, ou por acordos bilaterais, com os blocos ou países em estudo, estes trarão ganhos efetivos para o setor brasileiro de carnes.

This study analyses the Brazilian beef exportation potential considering the supposition of future agreements of regional integration. The countries or blocks that were chosen are The European Union (EU), the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) countries, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Popular Republic of China (PRC) and Japan. To analyze the meat sector exportation potential, four methodological generalizations are developed: the importing potential of the mentioned countries, the calculus of the evolution in the Revealed Advantage Index of Brazilian exportations and its main competitors, bibliographical research of the main existing trade barriers and the calculus of the Regional Orientation Index. The results concerning the importing potential indicate that the European Union (EU) consists of a very attractive market to Brazilian beef. The results of the calculus of comparative advantages reveal that Brazil has a higher competitivity in meat sector and it increasing in the period between 1990 and 2003. When considering the competitors inside each block or country, the European Union shows up as the major competitor. As far as the imposed trade barriers, these come out, in a general way, as extremely high and sometimes representing a blockage. Thus, the Brazilian meat sector would be largely improved if these barriers were eliminated. Finally, on the last relation, we can verify the high level of acceptance of Brazilian beef exportation to those blocks that do not have impeditive sanitary barriers. Nevertheless, when crossing the results obtained to the sector one can observe that from the accomplishment of inter-regional free trade agreements, via Mercosur or through bilateral agreements with the blocks or countries considered in this study, would bring real profits to the Brazilian meat sector.

As there was not any data on Chlamydia pneumoniae (TWAR) infections in Brazil so far, a prospective cohort study of adult patients hospitalized due to CAP was carried out for one year in a Brazilian university general hospital to detect the incidence of CAP by Chlamydophila pneumoniae (TWAR) for one year. During a whole year 645 consecutive patients hospitalized due to an initial presumptive diagnosis of respiratory diseases by ICD-10 (J00-J99), excluding upper respiratory diseases, were screened; 59 consecutive patients with CAP were diagnosed. They had determinations of serum antibodies to C. pneumoniae by microimmunofluorescence at the Infectious Diseases Laboratory of University of Louisville (KY, USA); 37 patients (63.8%) had seroreactivity to TWAR antigens, from which 23 (39.6%) had previous infection; 3 patients (5.2%) were diagnosed with CAP by TWAR and got cured. The incidence of TWAR CAP in our hospital by seroconversion was 5.2%. Our incidence of 5.2% is probably underestimated since TWAR culture was not available; we suggest that Real-Time PCR be used along with other diagnostic methods in future studies to detect the actual incidence of TWAR CAP. We propose that the serological criterion of IgM >1:16 alone to the diagnosis of acute infection by TWAR are discontinued due a lack of specificity.
