Abstract The legal field is historically constituted by social norms that establish a body pattern (binary, cisgender, endosex), thus excluding bodies that do not fit this norm, as it is the case of intersexuality. Because of this, intersex people suffer discrimination and have their rights violated by early hormonal and cosmetic surgical procedures even in their childhood. This paper seeks to discuss how intersexuality strains the legal content of prohibited criterion of sex discrimination, contributing to its expansion. To this end, a bibliographic and national and international legislation review was carried out on the content of the discrimination prohibited criterion sex, considering the need for anti-discriminatory protection of intersex people. It is evaluated whether the categories that give content to the prohibited criterion of sex - sexual orientation and gender identity - are sufficient to protect intersex people from discrimination and the desbinarization of the law is proposed, through the inclusion of the category sexual characteristics, as a way of contemplating the discrimination experienced by intersex people, and also by other corporalities that are not inscribed in a binary pattern and that are not linearly related to identity.

Resumo O campo jurídico é historicamente constituído por normativas sociais que estabelecem um padrão corporal (binário, cisgênero, endossexo), excluindo, dessa forma, corpos que não se enquadram nessa norma, como é o caso da intersexualidade. Por conta disso, pessoas intersexo sofrem discriminação e têm os seus direitos violados por procedimentos cirúrgicos e hormonais precoces e cosméticos, ainda na infância. O presente artigo busca discutir como a intersexualidade tensiona o conteúdo jurídico do critério proibido de discriminação sexo, contribuindo para o seu alargamento. Para tanto, foi realizada revisão bibliográfica e de legislação nacional e internacional sobre o conteúdo do critério proibido de discriminação sexo, considerando a necessidade de proteção antidiscriminatória das pessoas intersexo. Avalia-se se as categorias que dão conteúdo ao critério proibido sexo - orientação sexual e identidade de gênero - são suficientes para proteger as pessoas intersexo da discriminação e propõe-se a desbinarização do direito, por meio da inclusão da categoria características sexuais, como forma de contemplar as discriminações experienciadas por pessoas intersexo, e também por outras corporalidades que não se inscrevem em um padrão binário e que não se relacionam de modo linear com a identidade.

This is a multicenter, cross-sectional study carried out with students regularly enrolled in undergraduate courses at eight Brazilian IFES. Data collection was conducted between October 2021 and February 2022 using an online self-completed questionnaire, which addressed sociodemographic and academic characteristics, lifestyle habits, and health conditions. Symptoms of anxiety and depression were assessed using the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21). Variables were analyzed descriptively using frequency distribution and Pearson’s chi-square test. To estimate the prevalence of symptoms of anxiety and depression, the proportion and 95% confidence interval (95%CI) were used. The level of adopted statistical significance was 5%.

Resumo Objetivou-se analisar a tendência dos indicadores do Programa Nacional de Imunizações (PNI) em menores de um ano e classificar os municípios quanto ao risco de transmissão de doenças imunopreveníveis (RTDIp) no Maranhão de 2010 a 2021. Estudo ecológico de série temporal, baseado em dados secundários de cobertura vacinal (CV), homogeneidade de cobertura vacinal (HCV), proporção de abandono (PA) e RTDIp, com abrangência estadual, para vacinas do calendário nacional infantil. Regressão de Prais-Winstein estimou tendência (α = 5%) e variação percentual anual (VPA) dos indicadores. Houve CV flutuantes e discrepantes entre as vacinas, com tendência decrescente (p < 0,01), exceto contra hepatite B (p = 0,709) e rotavírus (p = 0,143). As quedas mais acentuadas foram para as vacinas contra febre amarela e BCG. Todas as taxas de HCV estavam abaixo do esperado, com a diminuição a partir de 2014 e VPA de 5,75% a 14,02%. Houve tendência crescente da PA para pentavalente e poliomielite. No período de 2015 e 2021 houve incremento de 52,54% na proporção dos municípios maranhenses com RTDIp muito alto (p = 0,025) e alto (p = 0,028). Ao longo de 12 anos, houve piora dos indicadores do PNI em menores de um ano, reafirmando a suscetibilidade para o surgimento de doenças imunopreveníveis.

Abstract We aimed to analyze the trend of indicators of the National Immunization Program (acronym in Portuguese. PNI) in children under one-year-old and classify municipalities regarding the risk of transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases (RTVPD) in Maranhão from 2010 to 2021. This ecological time series study was based on secondary data on vaccination coverage (VC). vaccination coverage homogeneity (VCH). proportion of abandonment (PA). and RTVPD. with state coverage for vaccines in the national children’s calendar. Prais-Winsten regression estimated trends (α=5%) and the indicators’ annual percentage change (APC). We identified fluctuating and discrepant VC between vaccines. with a decreasing trend (p < 0.01). except those against Hepatitis B (p = 0.709) and oral human rotavirus (p = 0.143). The sharpest falls were for Yellow Fever (APC = 12.24%) and BCG (APC = 12.25%) vaccines. All VCH rates were lower than expected. with a drop from 2014 and APC between 5.75% (Pneumococcal 10; p = 0.033) and 14.02% (Poliomyelitis; p < 0.01). We observed an increasing trend in PA for Pentavalent (APC = 4.91%; p < 0.01) and Poliomyelitis (APC = 3.55%; p < 0.01). We identified an increase of 52.54% in the proportion of municipalities in Maranhão from 2015 to 2021. with extremely high (p = 0.025) and high (p = 0.028) RTVPD. The PNI indicators deteriorated. reaffirming the susceptibility to the emergence of vaccine-preventable diseases.

No Brasil, crianças intersexo ainda são submetidas a procedimentos para designação de sexo binário no nascimento e a intervenções corporais subsequentes. A Resolução nº 1.664/2003, do Conselho Federal de Medicina, legitima intervenções sobre as corporalidades intersexo, se constituindo como o único instrumento normativo nacional que trata sobre o tema. No entanto, as demandas advindas do ativismo político internacional intersexo vêm expondo o quanto as intervenções precoces na infância para a designação de um sexo binário mutilam os corpos das crianças e violam uma série de direitos humanos. Esta pesquisa visa identificar como os procedimentos precoces, irreversíveis e normalizadores, realizados sem o consentimento da pessoa intersexo, revelam-se violadores de direitos humanos. Sob as lentes do conceito de (in)justiça epistêmica, partimos das disputas em torno da produção de evidências que embasam as práticas médicas. Demonstramos como esses procedimentos violam os direitos humanos à saúde, à integridade corporal e à autonomia e os direitos sexuais e reprodutivos, e analisamos quais têm sido as estratégias para evitar essas violações. Propomos que pessoas intersexo estejam no centro das decisões sobre o próprio corpo e que sejam debatidos, junto a pacientes e familiares, caminhos não cirúrgicos e proibidas intervenções precoces, invasivas, mutilatórias, prejudiciais, cosméticas e não consentidas nos corpos de crianças intersexo. A proposição de mudanças em instrumentos norteadores que deixem de regular esses corpos é necessária para, a partir de uma perspectiva interdisciplinar, incluir instâncias bioéticas e de direitos humanos, assim como pessoas do ativismo político intersexo.

En Brasil, los niños intersexuales todavía están sujetos a procedimientos de asignación de sexo binario al nacer y a intervenciones corporales posteriores. La Resolución nº 1.664/2003, del Consejo Federal de Medicina, asegura las intervenciones sobre corporalidades intersexuales y es el único instrumento normativo nacional sobre el tema. Sin embargo, las demandas que surgieron desde el activismo político internacional intersexual plantean cómo las intervenciones tempranas en la infancia para la asignación de género binario mutilan el cuerpo de los niños y vulneran una serie de derechos humanos. Esta investigación tiene por objetivo identificar cómo los procedimientos tempranos, irreversibles y normalizadores, realizados sin el consentimiento de la persona intersexual producen violadores de los derechos humanos. Con base en el concepto de (in)justicia epistémica, partimos de las disputas en torno a la producción de evidencia que subyace a las prácticas médicas. Demostramos cómo estos procedimientos vulneran los derechos humanos a la salud, la integridad y autonomía corporales, y los derechos sexuales y reproductivos, además, analizamos qué estrategias se han utilizado para evitarlos. Debatimos que las personas intersexuales deben estar en el centro de las decisiones sobre sus propios cuerpos y que se discutan con pacientes y familiares formas no quirúrgicas e intervenciones tempranas, invasivas, mutiladoras, dañinas, cosméticas y no consensuales en los cuerpos de los niños intersexuales. Los cambios en los instrumentos rectores para que dejen de regular estos cuerpos son necesarios para que, desde una perspectiva interdisciplinaria, se incluyan instancias de bioética y derechos humanos, así como a personas del activismo político intersexual.

Intersex children in Brazil are still subjected to “normalizing” surgical procedures and subsequent bodily interventions to make their bodies conform to binary views of sex. Resolution n. 1,664/2003 of the Brazilian Federal Council of Medicine legitimizes interventions upon intersex bodies, being the only national normative instrument that address the subject. However, the demands of international intersex political activism have denounced how early childhood interventions for sex designation mutilate children’s bodies and violate a number of human rights. This research discusses how early, irreversible, and normalizing procedures performed without the intersex person’s consent are human rights violations. Based on the concept of epistemic (in)justice, we first look at the disputes surrounding the evidence that underpin medical practices. We demonstrate how such procedures violate human rights to health, body integrity, autonomy, and sexual and reproductive rights, analyzing which strategies were put into place to prevent them. We propose that intersex people be at the center of decisions regarding their bodies, that non-surgical paths be discussed with patients and their family members, and that early, invasive, mutilating, harmful, cosmetic, and unconsented surgical interventions on intersex children be prohibited. Guiding tools must introduce changes into its regulatory bias to, from an interdisciplinary perspective, include bioethical and human rights bodies, as well as intersex activists.

ABSTRACT Dementia is currently one of the most common diseases affecting elderly people, ranking seventh among leading causes of death. As it causes memory loss, difficulties in reasoning, and resulting difficulties in making and executing decisions, assistive technologies and cognitive stimulation are valuable resources in the care process. Based on a theoretical inquiry into the bioethics of health care, and drawing on the work of Aline Albuquerque and Victor Montori, this article focuses on three main issues: first, the concept of bioethics in health care, patient-centered care, and the idea of clinical empathy. Second, it looks at the use of assistive technologies in caring for elderly patients with dementia. Lastly, we offer a discussion of whether the care process could be considered a health technology.

RESUMEN La demencia es actualmente una de las enfermedades más comunes que afecta a las personas mayores, siendo la séptima causa principal de muerte. Provoca pérdida de memoria, dificultad para razonar y, por consiguiente, dificultades para tomar y ejecutar decisiones, por lo que las tecnologías de asistencia y estimulación cognitiva son valiosos recursos en el proceso de cuidado. Desde una investigación teórica basada en la bioética de los cuidados en salud y en las investigaciones de Aline Albuquerque y Victor Montori, este artículo aborda, en primer lugar, el concepto de bioética en el cuidado de la salud, la atención centrada en el paciente y la idea de empatía clínica; en segundo lugar, se centra en el empleo de tecnologías asistivas para el cuidado de adultos mayores con demencia y, por último, plantea la discusión sobre si el proceso de atención podría ser considerado como una tecnología sanitaria.

Resumo Objetivou-se compreender a violência no trabalho na perspectiva dos enfermeiros do atendimento pré-hospitalar móvel. Estudo transversal, com 67 enfermeiros do atendimento pré-hospitalar móvel. Realizado a partir de duas perguntas: “O que você entende por violência no trabalho?” e “Como você percebe a ocorrência da violência no trabalho no ambiente do pré-hospitalar”. Análise dos dados através da técnica de análise temática. Emergiram duas categorias: o que os enfermeiros entendem por violência no trabalho no ambiente pré-hospitalar móvel; e como os enfermeiros percebem a ocorrência da violência no trabalho no ambiente pré-hospitalar móvel. Destacaram-se ações de violência física, verbal, psicológica, comportamental, sexual, assim como advindas das características do processo de trabalho, praticada por pacientes, populares, profissionais da instituição de trabalho, profissionais de saúde dos hospitais de referência e profissionais com postos hierarquicamente superiores, nos locais de atendimento, de recebimento dos pacientes e na organização de trabalho, provocando queixas físicas, mentais e psicológicas, desprazer em realizar as atividades laborais e afastamento do trabalho. O estudo aponta a necessidade de discutir os fatores desencadeantes da violência contra os profissionais do atendimento pré-hospitalar e políticas públicas específicas à prevenção da violência no trabalho, visando a saúde dos trabalhadores.

Abstract The objective was to understand violence in the workplace from the perspective of nurses in mobile pre-hospital care. This is a cross-sectional study with 67 nurses of mobile pre-hospital care guided by two questions: “What do you understand by violence in the workplace?” and “How do you perceive the occurrence of violence at work in the pre-hospital environment”. Data analysis was performed through the thematic analysis technique. Two categories emerged: what nurses understand by violence at work in the mobile pre-hospital environment; and how nurses perceive the occurrence of violence at work in the mobile pre-hospital environment. Actions of physical, verbal, psychological, behavioral, sexual violence were highlighted, as well as those arising from the characteristics of the work process, practiced by patients, people, professionals of the work institution, health professionals of reference hospitals and professionals with hierarchically superior positions, in the places of care, reception of patients and in the work organization, causing physical, mental and psychological complaints, displeasure in carrying out work activities and leave from work. The study points out the need to discuss the triggers of violence against professionals in pre-hospital care and specific public policies to prevent violence at work, aiming at the health of workers.

Abstract Acmella bellidioides (Asteraceae), commonly known as "arnica-do-campo", is a South American native medicinal plant mainly found in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. The indigenous people in these regions use the flowers of this plant to treat diseases of the digestive, musculoskeletal and sensory systems. Many Acmella species are morphologically similar, and there are a few anatomical studies available in the literature that can be used to identify and distinguish them. Several other members of Asteraceae, such as Calea uniflora, Chaptalia nutans, Porophyllum ruderale, Pseudobrickellia brasiliensis and Solidago chilensis, are also called "arnica-do-campo" or "arnica". Applying the same common name to several other species makes it difficult to identify the plant correctly and allows it to be more easily adulterated. The present study characterizes A. bellidioides using microscopy and microchemical techniques to provide pharmacobotanical data to support the authentication of the species. The notable anatomical markers identified in A. bellidioides are hypostomatic leaves, anomocytic stomata, peltate glandular trichomes on the leaf abaxial surface, midrib vascular system with three collateral bundles in an open arch, and the presence of prismatic crystals in the leaves and stems. These characteristics can help species identification and differentiation of A. bellidioides from other Acmella species and Asteraceae species known as arnica-do-campo.

RESUMEN La demencia es actualmente una de las enfermedades más comunes que afecta a las personas mayores, siendo la séptima causa principal de muerte. Abstract Projects on river basin integration are keen social-economical drivers in dry regions like the Brazilian semiarid, however, there are concerning ecological impacts implied in those projects. In a long-term analysis, ichthyofauna colonization and spread through the East Axis of the São Francisco River Integration Project (SFIP) was monitored to assess possible impacts on the receiving Paraíba River basin. The fish were collected semiannually (2012 to 2021) from 19 sites in the São Francisco (SF) and Paraíba (PB) basins. A total of 69 fish species were recorded, with distinct fish assemblages between SF (n = 50), PB (n = 35), and the SFIP artificial reservoirs (n = 25). The SFIP reservoirs were colonized by species from the donor basin (SF). In a pioneer finding, Anchoviella vaillanti was recorded for the first time in the receiving basin and it is in the process of establishment. The two SF species that reached PB through the SFIP canals (A. vaillanti and Moenkhausia costae) may be using their year-round reproduction and wide diet to successful spread and colonize the new environment. Since we detected species with potential to reach the receiving basin and became invasives, the implementation of barriers to contain their spread are recommended.

Resumo Projetos de integração de bacias hidrográficas são socialmente importantes em regiões como o semiárido brasileiro, porém há impactos ecológicos preocupantes implícitos nesses grandes projetos de infraestrutura. A colonização e dispersão da ictiofauna pelo Eixo Leste do Projeto de Integração do Rio São Francisco (PISF) foi monitorada para avaliar possíveis impactos na bacia receptora do rio Paraíba do Norte. Os peixes foram coletados semestralmente (2012 a 2021) em 19 locais das bacias do São Francisco (SF) e Paraíba (PB). Foram registradas 69 espécies de peixes, sendo 50 nos pontos do SF, 25 nos reservatórios artificiais ao longo do PISF e 35 nos pontos do PB. As assembleias de peixes das bacias do SF, PB e dos reservatórios do PISF foram significativamente distintas. Os reservatórios do PISF foram colonizados por espécies provenientes da bacia doadora (SF). Anchoviella vaillanti foi registrada pela primeira vez na bacia receptora do PB e está em processo de estabelecimento. As duas espécies do SF que chegaram ao PB pelos canais do PISF (A. vaillanti e Moenkhausia costae) apresentaram dieta e estratégias reprodutivas que permitem o sucesso na disseminação e colonização. Uma vez que foram detectadas espécies com potencial de atingir a bacia receptora, recomenda-se o monitoramento e manejo contínuos.

ABSTRACT Objective: To determine independent factors related to the use of oxygen and the oxygen flow rate in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) patients placed on a lung transplant waitlist and undergoing pulmonary rehabilitation (PR). Methods: This was a retrospective quasi-experimental study presenting functional capacity and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) data from lung transplant candidates with IPF referred for PR and receiving ambulatory oxygen therapy. The patients were divided into three groups on the basis of the oxygen flow rate: 0 L/min (the control group), 1-3 L/min, and 4-5 L/min. Data on functional capacity were collected by means of the six-minute walk test, and data on HRQoL were collected by means of the Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), being collected before and after 36 sessions of PR including aerobic and strength exercises. Results: The six-minute walk distance improved in all three groups (0 L/min: Δ 61 m, p < 0.001; 1-3 L/min: Δ 58 m, p = 0.014; and 4-5 L/min: Δ 35 m, p = 0.031). Regarding HRQoL, SF-36 physical functioning domain scores improved in all three groups, and the groups of patients receiving ambulatory oxygen therapy had improvements in other SF-36 domains, including role-physical (1-3 L/min: p = 0.016; 4-5 L/min: p = 0.040), general health (4-5 L/min: p = 0.013), social functioning (1-3 L/min: p = 0.044), and mental health (1-3 L/min: p = 0.046). Conclusions: The use of ambulatory oxygen therapy during PR in lung transplant candidates with IPF and significant hypoxemia on exertion appears to improve functional capacity and HRQoL.

RESUMO Objetivo: Determinar fatores independentes relacionados ao uso de oxigênio e ao fluxo de oxigênio em pacientes com fibrose pulmonar idiopática (FPI) em lista de espera para transplante de pulmão e em reabilitação pulmonar (RP). Métodos: Estudo quase experimental retrospectivo no qual são apresentados dados referentes à capacidade funcional e qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde (QVRS) de pacientes com FPI candidatos a transplante de pulmão e encaminhados para RP em oxigenoterapia ambulatorial. Os pacientes foram divididos em três grupos com base no fluxo de oxigênio: 0 L/min (grupo controle), 1-3 L/min e 4-5 L/min. Os dados referentes à capacidade funcional foram coletados por meio do teste de caminhada de seis minutos, e os dados referentes à QVRS foram coletados por meio do Medical Outcomes Study 36-item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), sendo coletados antes e depois de 36 sessões de RP com exercícios aeróbicos e de força. Resultados: A distância percorrida no teste de caminhada de seis minutos melhorou nos três grupos (0 L/min: Δ 61 m, p < 0,001; 1-3 L/min: Δ 58 m, p = 0,014; 4-5 L/min: Δ 35 m, p = 0,031). No tocante à QVRS, a pontuação obtida no domínio “capacidade funcional” do SF-36 melhorou nos três grupos, e os pacientes que receberam oxigenoterapia ambulatorial apresentaram melhora em outros domínios do SF-36: função física (1-3 L/min: p = 0,016; 4-5 L/min: p = 0,040), estado geral de saúde (4-5 L/min: p = 0,013), aspectos sociais (1-3 L/min: p = 0,044) e saúde mental (1-3 L /min: p = 0,046). Conclusões: O uso de oxigenoterapia ambulatorial durante a RP em candidatos a transplante de pulmão com FPI e hipoxemia significativa aos esforços parece melhorar a capacidade funcional e a QVRS.

Abstract Objectives Evidence suggests that ketamine’s influence on brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) might be involved in its mechanism of rapid antidepressant action. We aimed to evaluate the differential impact of ketamine and esketamine on serum BDNF levels and its association with response patterns in treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Methods Participants (n = 53) are from a randomized, double-blind clinical trial comparing the efficacy of single-dose ketamine (0.5mg/kg, n = 27) and esketamine (0.25mg/kg, n = 26) in TRD. Depression severity was assessed before and 24 hours, 72 hours, and 7 days after the intervention, using the Montgomery-Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS). Blood samples were collected before infusion, 24 hours, and 7 days afterwards. Results There were no significant changes in BDNF levels at post-infusion evaluation points, and no difference in BDNF levels comparing ketamine and esketamine. Both drugs exhibited similar therapeutic effect. There was no association between BDNF levels and response to treatment or severity of depressive symptoms. Conclusion There was no significant treatment impact on BDNF serum levels – neither with ketamine nor esketamine – despite therapeutic response. These results suggest that ketamine or esketamine intervention for TRD has no impact on BDNF levels measured at 24 hours and 7 days after the infusion. Abstract: Introduction: This paper reports research about graduates of the Professional Master’s Degree in Family Health (PROFSAÚDE), a nationwide qualification provided by a network composed of 25 institutions from the five regions of Brazil. The course is administered through distance learning,and is aimed at strengthening knowledge related to Primary Health Care, health management and education. Purpose: To characterize the socio-demographic profile and professional performance of the graduates of the first class of the professional master’s degree in Family Health and identify how the course has contributed to professional performance and to strengthening the Unified Health System (SUS). Method: This research is based on a quantitative approach that used a questionnaire with open and closed questions as a research instrument. Results: The results present the profile of the graduates, their motivations for taking the course, the impacts on their daily work and professional career, as well as the repercussion of the final product of the course in the training processes of health care professionals. Conclusion: The potential of training health professionals through distance learning is showcased by the ability to reach different regions of the country equitably, providing the professional/student with tools to examine their daily lives and propose solutions to the challenges of Primary Health Care, as mentioned by graduates in relation to the contribution of the final product of the Master’s degree.

Resumo: Introdução: O texto apresenta pesquisa com alunos egressos do Mestrado Profissional em Saúde da Família (PROFSAÚDE) que é uma proposta de formação em rede nacional composta por 25 instituições das cinco regiões do Brasil, realizada na modalidade de ensino a distância (EAD), voltada para o fortalecimento de conhecimentos relacionados à atenção primária à saúde, à gestão em saúde e à educação. Objetivo: Este estudo caracteriza o perfil sociodemográfico e de atuação profissional dos egressos da primeira turma de mestrado profissional em Saúde da Família em rede nacional e identifica as contribuições do curso para a atuação profissional e o fortalecimento do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Método: Trata-se de uma pesquisa de abordagem quantitativa que utilizou um questionário com perguntas abertas e fechadas como instrumento de pesquisa. Resultado: Os resultados apresentam o perfil dos egressos, as motivações para realização do curso, os impactos no cotidiano de trabalho e na carreira profissional, bem como a repercussão do produto final do curso nos processos formativos de profissionais da saúde e na assistência. Conclusão: A experiência de formação de profissionais da saúde na modalidade EAD tem potencial pela capacidade de atingir equitativamente diferentes regiões do país, propiciando ao profissional-aluno ferramentas para examinar seu cotidiano e propor soluções aos desafios da atenção primária à saúde, como mencionado pelos egressos em relação à contribuição do produto final do mestrado.

Abstract Objective: The aim of this study was to verify the adequacy of affordances in the home environment of children at risk of developmental delay and to identify factors associated with their frequency. Methods: The cross-sectional study included 97 families who responded to the Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development — Infant Scale (AHEMD-IS) for 3–18 months (n=63), or AHEMD – Self-Report (AHEMD-SR) for 18–42 months (n=34). The Mann-Whitney U test was used to identify the differences between the frequencies of affordances between the groups. Multiple linear regression was used to verify the association between the child’s sex, mother’s marital status, education, socioeconomic level, child and mother’s ages, house residents’ number, per capita income, and AHEMD scores (α=0.05). Results: The home affordances’ frequency in the AHEMD-IS ranged from less than adequate to excellent, while in the AHEMD-SR, the highest predominance was medium. The offer of stimuli in the AHEMD-IS was significantly higher. Higher socioeconomic level and house residents’ number were associated with greater affordances. Conclusions: The higher the socioeconomic level and house residents’ number, the greater the affordances in the homes of children at risk of delay. It is necessary to provide families with some alternatives to make their home environments richer in affordances that favor child development.

RESUMO Objetivo Verificar a adequação das oportunidades de ação no ambiente doméstico de crianças em risco de atraso no desenvolvimento e identificar fatores associados à sua frequência. Métodos Este estudo transversal incluiu 97 famílias que responderam ao Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development - Infant Scale (AHEMD-IS) para 3–18 meses (n=63) ou o Self Report (AHEMD-SR) para 18–42 meses (n=34). O teste de Mann-Whitney foi utilizado para identificar as diferenças entre as frequências de oportunidades de ação entre os grupos. A regressão linear múltipla foi utilizada para verificar a associação entre o sexo da criança, o estado civil, a escolaridade e nível socioeconômico da mãe, as idades da criança e da mãe, o número de residentes da casa, a renda per capita e os escores do AHEMD (α=0,05). Resultados A frequência das oportunidades de ação dos domicílios no AHEMD-IS variou de menos do que adequado a excelente; enquanto, no AHEMD-SR, a maior predominância foi de média frequência. A oferta de estímulos no AHEMD-IS foi significativamente maior. O maior nível socioeconômico e o número de moradores da casa foram associados a maiores oportunidades de ação. Conclusões Quanto maior o nível socioeconômico e o número de moradores, maiores são as oportunidades de ação nos domicílios das crianças em risco de atraso. É necessário oferecer às famílias algumas alternativas para tornar os seus ambientes domésticos mais ricos em oportunidades de ação que favoreçam o desenvolvimento infantil.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to assess the effects of two levels of soybean hulls (0 and 400.1 g/kg) and whole or ground corn in the diet of newborn crossbred dairy male calves on intake, performance, blood indicators, and feeding cost. Twenty-eight calves with an average weight of 33.0±6.2 kg and four days of age were distributed into four treatment groups in a completely randomized design (n = 7) for 56 days. Weekly samples of feed, diets, and leftovers were collected to determine dry matter and nutrient intakes. To evaluate apparent digestibility, samples were taken using titanium dioxide as a maker. Blood samples were also collected to evaluate blood indicators. The inclusion of soybean hulls resulted in greater neutral detergent fiber intake by the calves, but reduced their non-fibrous carbohydrates intake, which was also reduced by the use of whole corn in the diet. Although the total digestible nutrients content of diets decreased with the use of whole corn and inclusion of soybean hulls, its intake did not vary (0.75 kg/d), regardless of the factors analyzed. The apparent digestibilities of dry matter (0.87 kg/kg) and crude protein (0.89 kg/kg) were similar, resulting in similar performance between the animals, regardless of the factors analyzed. In the quantities evaluated, the use of soybean hulls or whole corn did not affect blood indicators and was insufficient to reduce feed costs; the cost of daily feed was $2.06, while the cost per kilogram of gain was $3.74. The inclusion of up to 400.1 g/kg of soybean hulls or the replacement of ground corn with whole corn does not affect the performance of crossbred dairy calves during the preweaning period, demonstrating that both can be used in animal feed during this phase of production.

ABSTRACT Sporotrichosis is the most frequent subcutaneous mycosis in Latin America. It is caused by species of the genus Sporothrix. Infection in humans occurs through the entry of the fungus into the skin. Zoonotic outbreaks involving cats in the transmission of the disease have been frequently reported. The lymphocutaneous form is the most commonly observed and the upper limbs are the most affected sites. We report a case of a 64-year-old healthy female patient with a lymphocutaneous form with rapid progression of lesions, which was refractory to initial treatment with itraconazole. Treatment with liposomal amphotericin B was performed with a satisfactory resolution, but aesthetic and functional sequelae in the left upper limb were installed.
