ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate autoinflammatory diseases (AID) according to age at diagnosis and sex, and response to therapy in a large population. Methods: This is a cross-sectional observational study of a Latin American registry using a designed web system for data storage, collected between 2015 and 2018. Any altered findings during follow-up were recorded. The forms were translated into Portuguese and Spanish, including demographic, clinical, laboratory, genetic and treatment characteristics. Results: We included 152 patients, 51.3% male and 75% Caucasian. The median age at disease onset was 2.1 years (0–15.6 years) and median age at diagnosis 6.9 years (0–21.9 years); 111 (73%) were children (0–9 years old), and 41 (27%) were adolescents and young adults (AYA) (10–21 years old). Periodic fever, aphthous stomatitis, pharyngitis, and adenitis syndrome (PFAPA) occurred in 46/152 (30%), chronic non-bacterial osteomyelitis (CNO) in 32/152 (21%), and familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) in 24/152 (15.7%). PFAPA was significantly higher in young children than in AYA (38.7% vs. 7.3%, p<0.001), while CNO were lower (13.5% vs. 41.5%, p<0.001). The frequency of females was significantly higher in CNO (28.4% vs. 14.1%, p=0.031) and lower in FMF (8.1% vs. 23.1%, p=0.011). The most used drugs were glucocorticoids, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID), and colchicine. Glucocorticoids and colchicine treatment were used in all AID with good to moderate response. However, cryopyrin-associated periodic syndromes (CAPS) seemed unresponsive to glucocorticoids. NSAIDs and methotrexate were the main medications used to treat CNO. Conclusions: Differences among AID patients were observed in the LA population regarding sex and age at disease diagnosis.

RESUMO Objetivo: Avaliar as doenças autoinflamatórias (DAI) de acordo com sexo e idade no momento do diagnóstico e a resposta terapêutica em uma grande população. Métodos: Este é um estudo observacional transversal de um registro latino-americano que usou um sistema de dados coletados entre 2015 e 2018. Quaisquer achados alterados ao longo do acompanhamento foram registrados. Os formulários foram traduzidos para os idiomas português e espanhol, incluindo características demográficas, clínicas, laboratoriais, genéticas e de tratamento. Resultados: Incluímos 152 pacientes, sendo 51,3% do sexo masculino e 75% da raça branca. A média de idade de início da doença foi de 2,1 anos (0–15,6 anos) e a média de idade de diagnóstico 6,9 anos (0–21,9 anos); 111 (73%) eram crianças (0–9 anos) e 41 (27%) adolescentes/adultos jovens (10–21 anos). A síndrome de febre periódica, estomatite aftosa, faringite e adenite (PFAPA) ocorreu em 46/152 (30%), osteomielite não bacteriana crônica (CNO) em 32/152 (21%) e febre familiar do Mediterrâneo (FMF) em 24/152 (15,7%). A PFAPA foi significativamente maior em crianças pequenas (38,7 vs. 7,3%, p<0,001), e a CNO, em adolescentes/adultos jovens (13,5 vs. 41,5%, p<0,001). A frequência do sexo feminino foi significativamente maior na CNO (28,4 vs. 14,1%, p=0,031) e menor na FMF (8,1 vs. 23,1%, p=0,011). Os medicamentos mais utilizados foram glicocorticoides, anti-inflamatórios não esteroidais (AINE) e colchicina. O tratamento com glicocorticoides e colchicina foi usado em todas as DAI com resposta boa a moderada. No entanto, as síndromes periódicas associadas à criopirina (CAPS) pareciam não responder aos glicocorticoides. AINE e metotrexato foram os principais medicamentos utilizados no tratamento da CNO. Conclusões: Diferenças de pacientes com DAI foram observadas na população latino-americana em pacientes agrupados por sexo e idade ao diagnóstico da doença.

Abstract The scope of this article is to analyze the timeline trend of homicides of women between 2007 and 2019, in the Southeast region of Brazil. It is a mixed ecological study of homicides in women, from 2007 to 2019, considering the years of the study and the states that that make up the Southeast region as the unit of analysis. The data were obtained via the Mortality Information System (SIM) and tabulated by TABNET. The Prais-Winten regression model was used to verify the homicide trend. There were 18,415 homicides of women between 2007 and 2019 in the Southeast region. A total of 9,691 (53.64%) were black women, 5,118 (27.8%) had 4 to 7 years of schooling and 10,841 (58.87%) were single. The annual percentage variations were: São Paulo -3.73 ; 95%CI [-6.09; -1.32], Espírito Santo -5.67 ; 95%CI [-7.11;-4.21], Rio de Janeiro -3.86; 95%CI [-9.54; 2.17] and Minas Gerais -2.11 ; 95%CI [-4.87; 0.73]. São Paulo and Espírito Santo presented decreasing homicide rates for women, while Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro showed stationary rates. The highest homicide rates in the period were single women, black women and women with 4 to 7 years of schooling. It is necessary to build social networks that ensure the full protection of women.

Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é analisar a tendência temporal de homicídios de mulheres no período de 2007 a 2019, na região Sudeste do Brasil. Trata-se de um estudo ecológico misto dos homicídios em mulheres, de 2007 a 2019, considerando-se como unidade de análise os anos do estudo e os estados que compõem a região Sudeste. Os dados foram obtidos via Sistema de Informação sobre Mortalidade (SIM) e tabulados pelo TABNET. Empregou-se o modelo de regressão de Prais-Winsten para verificação de tendência de homicídios. Foram registrados 18.415 homicídios de mulheres entre 2007 e 2019 na região Sudeste. Cerca de 9.691 (53,64%) eram mulheres pretas, 5.118 (27,80%) com escolaridade de 4 a 7 anos e 10.841 (58,87%) solteiras. As variações percentuais anuais foram: São Paulo -3,73; IC95% [-6,09; -1,32], Espírito Santo -5,67; IC95% [-7,11; -4,21], Rio de Janeiro -3,86; IC95% [-9,54; 2,17] e Minas Gerais -2,11; IC95% [-4,87; 0,73]. São Paulo e Espírito Santo apresentaram taxas de homicídios de mulheres decrescentes, enquanto Minas Gerais e Rio de Janeiro taxas estacionárias. As maiores taxas de homicídio no período ocorreram em mulheres solteiras, pretas e com escolaridade de quatro a sete anos. Faz-se necessária a construção de redes sociais que viabilizem a proteção integral das mulheres.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Supplementation with probiotics for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) may be associated with decreased systemic inflammation. Objective: To assess the impact of oral supplementation with probiotics for patients with CKD on hemodialysis. Method: This double-blind randomized clinical trial included 70 patients on hemodialysis; 32 were given oral supplementation with probiotics and 38 were in the placebo group. Blood samples were collected at the start of the study and patients were given oral supplementation with probiotics or placebo for three months. The probiotic supplement comprised four strains of encapsulated Gram-positive bacteria: Lactobacillus Plantarum A87, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium bifidum A218 and Bifidobacterium longum A101. Patients were given one capsule per day for 3 months. Blood samples were taken throughout the study to check for inflammatory biomarkers. Non-traditional biomarkers Syndecan-1, IFN-y, NGAL, and cystatin C were measured using an ELISA kit, along with biochemical parameters CRP, calcium, phosphorus, potassium, PTH, GPT, hematocrit, hemoglobin, glucose, and urea. Results: Patients given supplementation with probiotics had significant decreases in serum levels of syndecan-1 (239 ± 113 to 184 ± 106 ng/mL, p = 0.005); blood glucose levels also decreased significantly (162 ± 112 to 146 ± 74 mg/dL, p = 0.02). Conclusion: Administration of probiotics to patients with advanced CKD was associated with decreases in syndecan-1 and blood glucose levels, indicating potential improvements in metabolism and decreased systemic inflammation.

Resumo Introdução: A suplementação com probióticos na doença renal crônica (DRC) pode estar associada à redução do processo inflamatório sistêmico. Objetivo: Avaliar a suplementação oral com probióticos em pacientes com DRC em hemodiálise. Método: Ensaio clínico, duplo cego, randomizado com 70 pacientes em hemodiálise, sendo 32 do grupo que recebeu o suplemento de probióticos e 38 do grupo placebo. Inicialmente ocorreu a coleta de sangue e suplementação oral com probióticos ou placebo durante três meses. O suplemento probiótico foi composto pela combinação de 4 cepas de bactérias Gram-positivas encapsuladas: Lactobacillus Plantarum A87, Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Bifidobacterium bifidum A218 e Bifidobacterium longum A101, sendo 1 cápsula do suplemento ao dia, durante 3 meses. Após esse período foram feitas novas coletas de sangue para dosagem dos biomarcadores inflamatórios. Foram analisados os biomarcadores não tradicionais: Syndecan-1, IFN-y, NGAL e cistatina C pelo método ELISA, e os seguintes parâmetros bioquímicos: PCR, cálcio, fósforo, potássio, PTH, TGP, hematócrito, hemoglobina, glicose e ureia. Resultados: Os pacientes que receberam suplemento tiveram diminuição significativa dos níveis séricos de syndecan-1 (de 239 ± 113 para 184 ± 106 ng/mL, p = 0,005). Outro parâmetro que diminuiu significativamente nos pacientes que receberam suplemento foi a glicemia (de 162 ± 112 para 146 ± 74 mg/dL, p = 0,02). Conclusão: O uso de probióticos na DRC avançada esteve associado à redução dos níveis de syndecan-1 e glicemia, sinalizando possível melhora no metabolismo e redução do processo inflamatório sistêmico.

Resumo Este estudo analisa as interações entre os processos regulatórios e de avaliação de tecnologias de saúde (ATS) voltados para a cobertura dos sistemas de saúde. Foi realizada revisão em cinco bases de dados visando identificar experiências de articulação entre processos regulatórios e processos de ATS, sendo incluídas 19 publicações. Quanto ao tipo de processo, destacaram-se o early dialogue, scientific advice e parallel advice como forma de interação entre ATS e regulação. Os estudos abordaram a interação entre a ATS e a regulação sanitária para as políticas de cobertura de medicamentos em sistemas de saúde, sendo escassas as evidências em relação a outros produtos. Ademais, essa interação é descrita basicamente para o que se refere à entrada de novas tecnologias nos sistemas de saúde. A interação entre ATS e regulação sanitária resultou na redução de prazos para a comercialização e incorporação da tecnologia nos sistemas de saúde. Os tipos de processo de interação identificados podem apresentar benefícios para todo o sistema de saúde, aumentando a cobertura e a integralidade do cuidado, entretanto, apesar dos avanços, ainda persistem barreiras para a interação entre agências reguladoras e a gestão de sistemas de cobertura.

Abstract This study analyzes the interactions between regulatory and health technology assessment (HTA) processes aimed at health systems coverage. A review was carried out in five databases to identify experiences of articulation between regulatory processes and HTA processes, and 19 publications were selected. Regarding the type of process, early dialogue, scientific advice and parallel advice stood out as forms of interaction between HTA and regulation. The studies addressed the interaction between HTA and health regulation for medicines coverage policies in health systems, with scant evidence in relation to other products. Furthermore, this interaction is basically described according to the entry of new technologies into health systems. The interaction between HTA and health regulation resulted in reduced deadlines for the commercialization and incorporation of the technology into health systems. The types of interaction processes identified can benefit the entire health system, increasing coverage and comprehensiveness of care. However, despite advances, some barriers to interaction between regulatory agencies and the management of coverage systems still persist.

Xerostomia is defined as the perception of dry mouth, and dysgeusia, as a change in taste. Both are common complaints in the elderly, especially among those making use of polypharmacy drug combinations. Aim This study aimed to determine the prevalence of xerostomia and dysgeusia and to investigate their association with polypharmacy in the elderly. Methods older people under follow-up at the Multidisciplinary Elderly Center of the University Hospital of Brasília were interviewed and asked about health problems, medications used, presence of xerostomia and dysgeusia. Descriptive statistics were used to determine the prevalence of the symptoms surveyed. The chi-square test was used to investigate the relationship between xerostomia and dysgeusia and polypharmacy. Secondary associations were performed using binomial logistic regression. Results Ninety-six older people were evaluated and of these, 62.5% had xerostomia and 21.1%, had dysgeusia. The average number of medications used was 4±3 medications per individual. Polypharmacy was associated with xerostomia but not dysgeusia. It was possible to associate xerostomia with the use of antihypertensive drugs. Conclusion Xerostomia was a frequent complaint among elderly people making use of polypharmacy, especially those using antihypertensives. Antihypertensives and antidepressants were used most drugs by the elderly and exhibited interactions with drugs most prescribed in Dentistry. Two contraindications were found between fluconazole and mirtazapine; and between erythromycin and simvastatin.

Abstract Objective: The aim of this study was to verify the adequacy of affordances in the home environment of children at risk of developmental delay and to identify factors associated with their frequency. Methods: The cross-sectional study included 97 families who responded to the Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development — Infant Scale (AHEMD-IS) for 3–18 months (n=63), or AHEMD – Self-Report (AHEMD-SR) for 18–42 months (n=34). The Mann-Whitney U test was used to identify the differences between the frequencies of affordances between the groups. Multiple linear regression was used to verify the association between the child’s sex, mother’s marital status, education, socioeconomic level, child and mother’s ages, house residents’ number, per capita income, and AHEMD scores (α=0.05). Results: The home affordances’ frequency in the AHEMD-IS ranged from less than adequate to excellent, while in the AHEMD-SR, the highest predominance was medium. The offer of stimuli in the AHEMD-IS was significantly higher. Higher socioeconomic level and house residents’ number were associated with greater affordances. Conclusions: The higher the socioeconomic level and house residents’ number, the greater the affordances in the homes of children at risk of delay. It is necessary to provide families with some alternatives to make their home environments richer in affordances that favor child development.

RESUMO Objetivo Verificar a adequação das oportunidades de ação no ambiente doméstico de crianças em risco de atraso no desenvolvimento e identificar fatores associados à sua frequência. Métodos Este estudo transversal incluiu 97 famílias que responderam ao Affordances in the Home Environment for Motor Development - Infant Scale (AHEMD-IS) para 3–18 meses (n=63) ou o Self Report (AHEMD-SR) para 18–42 meses (n=34). O teste de Mann-Whitney foi utilizado para identificar as diferenças entre as frequências de oportunidades de ação entre os grupos. A regressão linear múltipla foi utilizada para verificar a associação entre o sexo da criança, o estado civil, a escolaridade e nível socioeconômico da mãe, as idades da criança e da mãe, o número de residentes da casa, a renda per capita e os escores do AHEMD (α=0,05). Resultados A frequência das oportunidades de ação dos domicílios no AHEMD-IS variou de menos do que adequado a excelente; enquanto, no AHEMD-SR, a maior predominância foi de média frequência. A oferta de estímulos no AHEMD-IS foi significativamente maior. O maior nível socioeconômico e o número de moradores da casa foram associados a maiores oportunidades de ação. Conclusões Quanto maior o nível socioeconômico e o número de moradores, maiores são as oportunidades de ação nos domicílios das crianças em risco de atraso. É necessário oferecer às famílias algumas alternativas para tornar os seus ambientes domésticos mais ricos em oportunidades de ação que favoreçam o desenvolvimento infantil.

ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to produce and characterize biochar from sugarcane straw, as well as to investigate possible phytotoxic effects on the germination of cotton, maize, and soybean. To this end, the biochar was produced in a double-drum oven and characterized by different techniques. The germination trials were conducted in vitro, with biochar doses varying between 0 and 100 t/ha. The biochar was obtained with a yield of 40%, pH equal to 9.10, electrical conductivity of 2.22 dS/m and specific surface area of 20.3 m2/g. The elemental analysis showed H/C and O/C atomic ratios of 0.41 and 0.21, respectively. The FTIR showed the presence of C=C groups, while SEM/EDS showed a honeycomb porous structure and nutrients such as Mg, K and Ca. The germination test classified the biochar as a phytonutrient for corn and showed no phytotoxicity for soybeans. On the other hand, for cotton, the highest doses (50 and 100 t/ha) caused phytotoxicity. The results of this work meet the global demands for green techniques. Biochar made from sugarcane straw is a promising technology to improve the infertility of poor soils and manage carbon sequestration.

RESUMO O objetivo deste trabalho foi produzir e caracterizar o biocarvão a partir da palha de cana-de-açúcar, bem como investigar possíveis efeitos fitotóxicos às germinações de algodão, milho e soja. Para tanto, o biocarvão foi produzido em forno de duplo tambor e caracterizado por diferentes técnicas. Os ensaios de germinação foram conduzidos in vitro, com doses de biocarvão variando entre 0 e 100 t/ha. O biocarvão foi obtido com rendimento de 40%, pH igual a 9,10, condutividade elétrica de 2,22 dS/m e área superficial específica de 20,3 m2/g. A análise elementar mostrou razões atômicas H/C e O/C de 0,41 e 0,21, respectivamente. A FTIR mostrou a presença de grupos C=C, enquanto a MEV/EDS mostrou estrutura porosa tipo favo de mel e nutrientes, como o Mg, K e Ca. O ensaio de germinação classificou o biocarvão como fitoestimulante para o milho e mostrou ausência de fitotoxicidade para soja. Por outro lado, para o algodão, as doses mais elevadas (50 e 100 t/ha) causaram fitotoxicidade. Os resultados deste trabalho vêm ao encontro das demandas globais por técnicas verdes. Resumo Em áreas tropicais quentes, para evitar o estresse térmico, é comum a prática de que os edifícios escolares dependam do uso de sistemas de climatização mecânicos. A utilização de estratégias passivas de projeto, nessas regiões, em busca do conforto térmico com um baixo gasto energético, é de suma importância. Nesse sentido, as aberturas da edificação desempenham um importante papel, pois interferem na quantidade da radiação solar recebida e no padrão de distribuição do fluxo do ar interno. O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar o desempenho térmico em uma sala de aula sob diferentes configurações de modelos de janelas e portas em Vitória, ES, e Belém, PA. A metodologia utilizou simulações de desempenho térmico e de dinâmica dos fluidos computacional para análise da intensidade de desconforto térmico e do consumo energético. Os resultados mostram que a adição do peitoril ventilado aumenta a velocidade do ar na entrada da abertura e melhora significativamente o desempenho térmico na sala de aula. O uso de brise-soleil reduz em até 50% e 13% o consumo energético no ambiente, em Belém e Vitória, respectivamente. O estudo contribui para a seleção de aberturas mais eficientes, adaptadas às condições climáticas de cada região.

Abstract In school buildings located in hot tropical areas, it is a common practice to use mechanical climate control systems to avoid heat stress. The use of passive design strategies is of paramount importance for the achievement of thermal comfort with low energy consumption. Hence, buildings’ openings play an important role, as they have an impact on the amount of solar radiation received and on the internal air flow distribution pattern. The objective of this study was to evaluate the thermal performance in classrooms with different window and door model configurations in Vitória/ES and Belém/PA, Brazil. Simulations of thermal performance were conducted to analyse the intensity of thermal discomfort and energy consumption, while the aid of Computational Fluid Dynamics tools enabled the verification of details of the air velocity and temperature fields. The results show that the addition of a ventilated sill increases air velocity at the inlet opening and significantly improves thermal performance in the classroom. The use of brise-soleil reduces energy consumption in the classrooms in Belém and Vitória by up to 50% and 13%, respectively. The study helps in the selection of more efficient openings, adapted to the climatic conditions of each region.

Abstract The mineral processing of low-grade iron ores commonly generates large volumes of slime, which are disposed as tailings. Modern mining requires strives to eliminate the use of tailings dams in a maximum effort to increase metallurgical recovery, the security and reduction of the operational cost. This research aims for the recovery of iron contained in the slime, which consists of a material with 38% Fe and <40 µm, originating from the desliming cyclones. Pilot tests were performed on the Wet High-Intensity Magnetic Separator (WHIMS) and on the Vertical Ring Pulsating High Gradient Magnetic Separator (VPHGMS) considering different configurations in terms of operating parameters and routes. The best results were obtained for VPHGMS with an iron content in the concentrate of 67.06% and mass and metallurgical recovery of 32.42% and 56.86%, respectively. In the best condition tested, around 540 thousand tons of concentrate can be incorporated into production and has great environmental relevance.

Resumen Objetivo: Identificar la asociación entre los factores de riesgo de hipertensión arterial sistémica y los niveles de presión arterial de la población carcelaria. Materiales y métodos: Estudio de corte transversal realizado con una muestra de reclusos entre febrero y septiembre de 2019. Un total de 240 hombres de un complejo penitenciario en el sur de Brasil participaron en la investigación. En la recolección de datos se utilizó un instrumento semiestructurado basado en las guías nacionales de enfermedades cardiovasculares. Resultados: El análisis univariado permitió identificar que la práctica de ejercicio físico tiene una asociación negativa con el desarrollo y el control de la hipertensión arterial sistémica (p = 0,034), mientras que el índice de masa corporal y la circunferencia de la cintura fueron asociados positivamente con el riesgo cardiovascular y la hipertensión arterial sistémica (p = 0,000). En el análisis multivariado se observó la significancia estadística del índice de masa corporal cuando este es controlado para todas las demás variables del modelo (OR ajustado = 2,33). Conclusiones: Los factores de riesgo para el desarrollo de hipertensión arterial sistémica están presentes en el entorno penitenciario en un grado similar al de la vida en libertad; particularmente, la falta de ejercicio físico y las alteraciones del índice de masa corporal y la circunferencia de la cintura. Vale la pena mencionar que el índice de masa corporal fue la variable de mayor significancia estadística, puesto que al presentarse alteraciones en esta, aumenta 2,33 veces la probabilidad de que los reclusos desarrollen hipertensión arterial sistémica.

Resumo Objetivo: Identificar a associação entre os fatores de risco para a hipertensão arterial sistémica e os níveis pressóricos de prisioneiros em regime fechado. Materiais e métodos: Estudo de corte transversal, realizado com prisioneiros em regime fechado, entre fevereiro e setembro de 2019. Participaram do estudo 240 homens de um complexo penitenciário do Sul do Brasil. Para coletar os dados, foi utilizado um instrumento semiestruturado, baseado nas diretrizes nacionais para doenças cardiovasculares. Resultados: Na análise univariada, identificou-se que a prática de exercício físico foi associada de forma negativa ao desenvolvimento da hipertensão arterial sistémica (p = 0,034). Entretanto, o índice de massa corporal e a circunferência abdominal foram associados positivamente com o risco cardiovascular e a hipertensão arterial sistémica (p = 0,000). Na análise multivariada, notou-se a significância estatística do índice de massa corporal quando controlado por todas as outras variáveis no modelo (OR ajustado = 2,33). Conclusões: Os fatores de risco para o desenvolvimento da hipertensão arterial sistémica estão presentes no meio carcerário em grau similar ao da população geral, em especial a ausência da prática de exercício físico e a alteração do índice de massa corporal e da circunferência abdominal. Vale dizer que o índice de massa corporal foi a variável de maior significância estatística, pois, ao apresentar-se alterado, aumentou em 2,33 vezes a chance de os prisioneiros desenvolverem hipertensão arterial sistémica.

Abstract Objective: To identify the association between risk factors for systemic arterial hypertension and blood pressure levels in prisoners under a closed regime. Materials and methods: Cross-sectional study conducted with prisoners under a closed regime between February and September 2019. A total of 240 men from a penitentiary complex in southern Brazil participated in the study. A semi-structured instrument based on the national guidelines for cardiovascular diseases was used for data collection. Results: Univariate analysis allowed us to identify that physical exercise was negatively associated with the development of systemic arterial hypertension (p = 0.034). However, body mass index and abdominal circumference were positively associated with cardiovascular risk and systemic arterial hypertension (p = 0.000). Through multivariate analysis, we noted the statistical significance of the body mass index when controlled for all other variables in the model (adjusted OR = 2.33). Conclusions: Risk factors for the development of systemic arterial hypertension are present in the prison environment to a similar degree as in the general population; particularly the absence of physical exercise and altered body mass index and abdominal circumference. It is worth mentioning that the body mass index was the variable of greater statistical significance, since, when altered, it increased 2.33 times the chance of inmates to develop systemic arterial hypertension.

RESUMO Objetivo caracterizar o desempenho de adolescentes de 11 a 16 anos de idade, do 6º ao 9º ano do ensino fundamental no discurso narrativo oral, bem como verificar a influência do sexo, ano escolar, idade, desempenho em testes de linguagem oral, memória e nomeação de figuras. Método 100 adolescentes de ambos os sexos, cursando do sexto ao nono ano do ensino fundamental, sem queixa de distúrbio de linguagem e aprendizagem foram submetidos à avaliação do discurso narrativo oral (Bateria MAC), nomeação de figuras por confrontação visual (Teste de Nomeação de Boston), provas de linguagem oral e memória (NEUPSILIN). Considerou-se como variável resposta o desempenho no discurso narrativo (reconto parcial e integral e resposta a questões fechadas). Após análises univariadas, foram construídos modelos de Regressão Linear Múltipla. Resultados Apenas o desempenho geral na tarefa de nomeação foi considerado preditor do desempenho no discurso narrativo oral. Verificou-se associação diretamente proporcional entre as variáveis do discurso narrativo e da nomeação de figuras. A caracterização do desempenho dos adolescentes no reconto parcial e integral e na resposta às questões fechadas por idade, ano escolar e sexo será apresentada. Conclusão Na amostra estudada, os indivíduos foram capazes de compreender e de elaborar um discurso narrativo oral de forma semelhante a adultos com menor nível de escolaridade (de dois a sete anos). Dessa forma, a prova de discurso narrativo da Bateria MAC pode ser utilizada para a avaliação de adolescentes sem adaptações.

ABSTRACT Purpose to characterize the performance in oral narrative discourse of adolescents from 6 to 9 years of age from an elementary school, as well as to verify the influence of gender, school year, age, performance in oral language tests, memory, and appointment of figures. Methods 100 adolescents of both genders from the sixth to the ninth years of elementary school who did not have any language or learning disorders were evaluated for oral narrative discourse (MAC Battery), visual figure nomination (Boston Naming Test), oral language and memory (NEUPSILIN). Performance was considered as a response variable in narrative discourse (partial and complete retelling and the ability to answer questions). After univariate analysis, Multiple Linear Regression models were constructed. Results Only general performance in the naming task was considered as a predictor of performance in oral narrative discourse. A direct association between the variables of narrative discourse and the naming of figures was present. We show the characteristics of adolescents' performance in the partial and complete retelling and in the answers to the questions by age, school year and sex. Conclusion in the studied sample the participants (aged from two to seven years old) were able to understand and detail an oral narrative discourse similar to adults with a low educational level, consequently the MAC Battery narrative discourse test can be used to assess adolescents without any requirements for adaptation.

RESUMO Objetivos: identificar e classificar a pressão arterial e o estresse autorrelatado em apenados e investigar a associação desses eventos com dados clínicos e sociodemográficos. Métodos: estudo de corte transversal e quantitativo com 240 apenados. Foram empregados questionário sociodemográfico, Inventário de Sintomas de Stress para Adultos de Lipp, classificação da pressão arterial, circunferência abdominal e Índice de Massa Corporal. Resultados: média de idade de 37,17 anos (DP 11,5), 48,8% (n=117) solteiros, 42,9% (n= 103) pardos. A maioria 67,9% (n= 163) reclusa há menos de 4 anos e 33,8% (n=81) estavam hipertensos. A pressão arterial foi compatível com a população geral. Tabagismo, consumo de medicamentos anti-hipertensivos e hipoglicemiantes, preocupação com consumo de sal e histórico familiar de hipertensão foram associados com estresse autopercebido (resistência e exaustão). Conclusões: o grupo está exposto a fatores de risco modificáveis, sobretudo ao estresse, que favorecem a hipertensão e carecem de estratégias preventivas e acesso à saúde.

Methods: a cross-sectional and quantitative study with 240 inmates. A sociodemographic questionnaire, Lipp’s Inventory of Stress Symptoms for Adults, blood pressure classification, waist circumference and Body Mass Index were used. Results: mean age of 37.17 years (SD 11.5), 48.8% (n=117) single, 42.9% (n= 103) brown. The majority 67.9% (n=163) had been incarcerated for less than 4 years and 33.8% (n=81) were hypertensive. Blood pressure was compatible with the general population. Smoking, consumption of antihypertensive and hypoglycemic medications, concern about salt consumption, and a family history of hypertension were associated with self-perceived stress (resistance and exhaustion). Conclusions: the group is exposed to modifiable risk factors, especially stress, which favor hypertension and lack preventive strategies and access to health.

RESUMEN Objetivos: identificar y clasificar la presión arterial y el estrés autoinformado en internos e investigar la asociación de estos eventos con datos clínicos y sociodemográficos. Métodos: estudio transversal y cuantitativo con 240 internos. Se utilizó un cuestionario sociodemográfico, el Inventario de Síntomas de Estrés para Adultos de Lipp, la clasificación de la presión arterial, la circunferencia de la cintura y el Índice de Masa Corporal. Resultados: edad media de 37,17 años (DE 11,5), 48,8% (n=117) solteros, 42,9% (n=103) pardos. La mayoría del 67,9% (n=163) había estado encarcelado menos de 4 años y el 33,8% (n=81) eran hipertensos. La presión arterial fue compatible con la población general. El tabaquismo, el consumo de antihipertensivos e hipoglucemiantes, la preocupación por el consumo de sal y los antecedentes familiares de hipertensión se asociaron con el estrés autopercibido (resistencia y agotamiento). Conclusiones: el grupo está expuesto a factores de riesgo modificables, especialmente estrés, que favorecen la hipertensión y carecen de estrategias preventivas y de acceso a la salud.

ABSTRACT Intestinal parasitic infections (IPIs) are neglected diseases caused by helminths and protozoa, with the relationships between parasite, host and environment having the potential to produce high morbidity and incapacity to work and mortality in vulnerable areas. This study assessed the prevalence of IPIs concerning socio-environmental conditions and analyzed the knowledge, attitudes and practices related to these diseases among men living in the slums of Rio de Janeiro city, Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil. A cross-sectional study was conducted in an agglomeration of urban slums between 2018 and 2019, with men aged between 20 and 59 years. A socioeconomic status questionnaire and an IPIs knowledge, attitudes and practices questionnaire (KAPQ) were applied. Coproparasitological diagnoses (n=454) were performed using four methods and samples of water for household consumption (n=392) were subjected to microbiological and physicochemical analysis. A total of 624 participants were enrolled. About 40% of the households had “water unsuitable for consumption”. Only one Major Area, MA 3 was not statistically significant for IPIs (AOR=0.75; 95% CI: 0.30-1.88; p=0.55). The overall prevalence of IPIs was 23.8%. Endolimax nana (n=65, 14.3%) and hookworm (n=8, 1.7%) were the most frequently identified parasites. The analysis of the frequency of responses to the KAPQ has shown that men reported to seeking medical care if they were suspicious of IPIs, and around 35% would self-medicate. The results have shown the need to adopt integrated health education practices targeting male residents in urban slums to qualify the care with water for human consumption and promote self-care about IPIs. The household can be considered strategic for Primary Health Care activities for men.
