Ocular rabdomiossarcoma: clinical study of 12 cases

RESUMO

Foram avaliados 12 pacientes com rabdomiossarcoma ocular em relação aos seguintes dados: sexo, idade, raça, tempo de bist6ria, localização do tumor, exame ocular e estudo anatomopatol6gico. Os resultados mostraram-se concordantes com a literatura.

Oito casos tiveram um seguimento adequado tendo sido analisados em relação ao tratamento, evolução e complicações. Os dois pacientes que foram a 6bito tinham sido submetidos a radioterapia isoladamente. A paciente que recebeu radioterapia e quimioterapia associada a exenteração respondeu bem à terapêutica e pode ser considerada curada. Os demais pacientes foram tratados com quimioterapia e radioterapia, não tendo apresentado recorrências até o momento, sendo que os autores concluem ser este o melhor esquema terapêutico.

SUMMARY

The authors analyse 12 pacients with primary ocular RMS, in relation to the following aspects: sex, age, race, time of history, localization of the tumor, ocular examination and histopalogical findings. The results proved to be similar to literature.

Eight patients have been evaluated in terms of treatment, evolution and complications. The pacients who were submitted to radioterapy exclusively died. The pacient who was treated with radiotherapy, chemotherapy and exenteration had no recurrence, as well as the ones who received only radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The authors conclude that the last association is the best therapeutical schedule.
