SUMMARY
We adapted the SoftPerm® contact tens in 20 patients (39 eyes) with both regular or irregular astigmatism. Sixteen (80%) had discontinued the use of rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses due to discomfort and four (20%) of them had no success as users of toric soft contact lenses (GT). The most frequently complaining found in 40% of the patients was the lenses dificulty to handle. None of the complications observeds required any kind of drug treatment. The average follow-up time was 9.85 months and the mean corneal astigmatism was 2.53 diopters. 70% of the patients were satisfied with the new lenses and 65% had continued their use by the end of the study.
