É relatado um caso com jactatio capitis nocturnus avaliado clinicamente e em traçados poligráficos em laboratório de sono. Suas manifestações atípicas consistem de: ocorrência esporádica na infância com piora progressiva na idade adulta, aparecimento específico no sono REM e acometimento de mais de um membro da mesma família.
A case of an adult female patient with jactatio capitis nocturnus evaluated in a sleep disorders center is reported. The unusual characteristics included symptoms initiating in early childhood and becoming more frequent with age, specifically observed during REM sleep. The occurence in a 2-year-old son indicates the familial aspects of this syndrome.

É relatado um caso com jactatio capitis nocturnus avaliado clinicamente e em traçados poligráficos em laboratório de sono. Suas manifestações atípicas consistem de: ocorrência esporádica na infância com piora progressiva na idade adulta, aparecimento específico no sono REM e acometimento de mais de um membro da mesma família.
SUMMARY
A case of an adult female patient with jactatio capitis nocturnus evaluated in a sleep disorders center is reported. The unusual characteristics included symptoms initiating in early childhood and becoming more frequent with age, specifically observed during REM sleep. The occurence in a 2-year-old son indicates the familial aspects of this syndrome.
