The Brazilian’s educational cooperation with Africa and other countries of the Global South to higher education, started more effectively in the 1960s through the Students Program - Graduation Agreement (PEC-G) of the Ministry Foreign Affairs (MFA). This article aims to discuss the policy of international cooperation in higher education throught the oficial documents and students’s enterviews. 14 interviews with students from 10 countries were taken. The results indicate that there are major challenges to be overcome, especially regarding to racism faced by African students, however, the students evaluate the experience of graduating from Brazilian universities has been very positive.
