RESUMO O Grande Tempo está presente na concepção de cultura e literatura de Bakhtin e na sua antropologia filosófica. Tomado como uma metáfora, o conceito poderia ser compreendido por meio de uma extensa gama de significados: tradição, futuro virtual, história literária e intelectual, memória em seu sentido mais amplo, um nível ontológico de existência, transcendência, etc. O Grande Tempo parece estar relacionado à ideia central de Bakhtin a respeito da responsabilidade pessoal, radicada na situação concreta do ato (postupok). Desse ponto de vista, o conceito implica a presença de um "terceiro" na comunicação ou no inconcluso diálogo da existência. A posição desse "terceiro" no diálogo (um conceito polissêmico em si mesmo: pessoas, o leitor, o futuro, Deus) ocorre sempre a partir de um distanciamento ou exotopia, que permite um julgamento de valor em relação ao ato, e que vai além de sua situação concreta e social. De certa forma, o "terceiro" é uma postura por meio da qual é possível ponderar o ato como transcendência. Minha experiência de vida, como intelectual e professor de Literatura Hispânica e Pensamento Latinoamericano, tem testemunhado a relevância da concepção antropológica bakhtiniana.

ABSTRACT The Great Time is present in Bakhtin’s conception of culture and literature and in his philosophical anthropology. Taken as a metaphor, the concept could be understood in a wide range of meanings: tradition, virtual future, history, literary and intellectual history, memory in its broadest sense, an onthological level of existence, transcendence, etc. The Great Time seems to be related to Bakhtin’s central idea about personal responsibility, rooted in the concrete situation of the act (postupok). From this point of view, the concept implies the presence of a "third" in communication or in the unfinished existential dialogue. The position of this "third" (a polysemic concept itself: people, the reader, the future, God) in dialogue always occurs from a certain outsidedness or exotopy, which allows a value judgement of the act and which goes further than its concrete and social situation. Thus, in a certain way the "third" is a posture from which it is possible to understand the act as transcendence. Through my experience as a scholar and professor of Hispanic Literature and Latin American thinking, I have witnessed the relevance of Bakhtin’s anthropological conception.

RESUMO Esta investigação, fundamentada em conceitos de Bahktin e Volochinov, discute a relação entre leitura e escrita. A partir dos conceitos de dialogismo, exotopia, autoria, dentre outros, percebeu-se que leitura e escrita constituem uma ação social de dimensão ética. Para o Círculo, leitura e escrita são processos criativos e dialógicos, visto que leitor e autor entram em profundo diálogo em que posições, muitas vezes díspares, se confrontam. Ao ler um texto, o leitor o faz com seu repertório cultural, mediando a leitura por vieses: contexto, gênero, classe social, axiologia, etc., recriando-o a partir dos seus parâmetros. O texto, entretanto, resiste, visto que foi concebido por outrem, cujo horizonte axiológico, temporal e contextual é outro. Qual a possibilidade de convergência e/ou discordância entre autor e leitor? As respostas a essa problematização demonstraram que o processo leitura/escrita é constituído por uma perspectiva ética de base dialógica: a presença do outro ocorre como alteridade, levando à necessidade de se fazer escolhas, intervenções, opções que podem destruir, carnavalizar, exaltar e idealizar esse outro. A centralidade da linguagem na constituição do ser social mostrou a ética discursiva dialógica como categoria fundamental para a compreensão da leitura e da escrita.

ABSTRACT Based on concepts of the Bakhtin Circle, this investigation discusses the relationship between reading and writing. Based on the key concepts of dialogism, exotopy, authorship etc., it was perceived that reading and writing are kinds of social action with an ethical dimension. For the Circle, reading and writing are creative and dialogical processes, as the reader and the author enter into a deep dialogue in which positions, often in opposition, enter into confrontation. On reading a text, the reader does so based on his/her cultural repertoire, mediating the act of reading through different slants: context, gender, social group, axiology, and so forth. In this process, the reader re-creates the text based on his/her personal parameters. However, the text resists the reader, having been thought of by another person, whose axiological, temporal and contextual horizons may be different. Which is the possibility of convergence or disagreement between author and reader? The answers to this problematisation showed that the reading-writing process is made up of an ethical perspective with a dialogical base: the presence of the other occurs as alterity and, in the light of this presence, it leads to the necessity of making choices, interventions and of considering options which could destroy, carnivalise, praise, or idealize this other. The centrality of language in the establishment of the social being showed that the dialogical discourse ethics is a key concept for understanding reading and writing.

RESUMO O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar os meandros da composição e suas intertextualidades na polêmica do samba entre Noel Rosa e Wilson Batista, observando o dialogismo na interação verbal e musical entre os autores e os diversos textos da década de 1930. Ao apurar os ouvidos sobre a "polêmica do samba" observa-se que as composições revelam tensões inexoráveis entre um mundo festivo do "malandro" e os limites da realidade da época. Desse modo, com suporte em estudos que tratam deste tema, busca-se trazer à tona um insight sobre este "duelo" musical que está, certamente, muito mais disseminado na sociedade que restrito a questões puramente estéticas.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this paper is to analyze the meanders of composition and their intertextuality in the samba controversy between Noel Rosa and Wilson Batista. We observe dialogism in the verbal and musical interaction between the samba writers and several texts of the 1930s. When ears are in tune with the "samba controversy," one observes that the compositions reveal inexorable tensions between the festive world of the "malandro" and the limits of the reality of the time. Accordingly, based on studies that address this theme, we aim to present an insight into this musical "duel," which is not restricted to purely aesthetics issues, but certainly disseminated in society.

RESUMO Neste artigo, o objetivo é demonstrar como a midiatização de casos de tosquias de mulheres constroem, na e pela linguagem, uma estética do estranhamento que referenda discursos flagrantes de fronteiras sócio-histórico-culturais. Para isso, articulam-se, teoricamente, o pensamento bakhtiniano, sobretudo sua insistência na dimensão semiótico-ideológica da linguagem, e postulados barthesianos, em especial o entendimento da constituição semiológica de trauma. Metodologicamente, cotejam-se registros e divulgação de tosquia feminina em duas inscrições históricas: na França, por ocasião da chamada Liberação na década de 1940, e no Brasil da atualidade, em comunidades cariocas que convivem com a cultura do tráfico. No estudo apresentado, procura-se responder à seguinte questão: como, depois de tantas décadas, essa voz do pós-guerra francês emerge no contexto brasileiro (res)significando as mesmas práticas? A análise empreendida aqui mostra que a “prosa” das tosquiadas mobiliza vozes diferentes que, ao imprimirem suas marcas nos enunciados, estratificam a linguagem e desenham fronteiras sócio-culturais.

ABSTRACT The aim of this article is to demonstrate how the mediatization of cases of woman shearing builds, in language and through language, an aesthetics of strangeness which reassures discourses that point out social, historical and cultural borders. In order to achieve this goal, two thoughts are articulated theoretically: the Bakhtinian thought, especially his insistence on the semiotic-ideological dimension of language, and Barthesian postulates, especially his understanding of the semiological construction of trauma. From the methodological point of view, two registers and the propagation of the shearing of women in two historical events are contrasted: in France, during the period called Liberation, in the 1940s, and in present Brazil, in Rio de Janeiros’s slums which live side by side with the culture of drug traffic. In this study, we try to answer the following question: after so many decades, how does this French post-war voice emerge in the Brazilian context, (re-)signifying the same practices? The analysis developed here shows that the “prose” of shorn women mobilizes different voices which, by imprinting their marks on utterances, stratify language and draw socio-cultural borders.

RESUMO Na reflexão dialógica sobre a enunciação, Voloshinov enfatiza sua porção subentendida como aquela que é comum a um grupo social e que, portanto, não precisa ser explicitada. Dessa maneira, o autor observa a possibilidade de o enunciador, ao acrescentar, justapor, situações de memória no tempo e no espaço narrados, conjugar percepções acerca da existência em matéria de ficção; vinculá-las a entonações que estreitam ainda mais a interlocução entre as coisas vividas e o enunciado. Diante disso, analisamos, pelo ângulo dialógico, o conto Um incêndio, de Machado de Assis, motivado por notícia de um incêndio ocorrido em região portuária de Montevidéu, que lhe deu o engenheiro Abel Ferreira de Matos, que, por sua vez, ouvira do menino Manuel Bandeira.

In his dialogical reflection on utterance, Voloshinov emphasizes that its implied component is the one that is common to a social group and does not need thus to be explicit. In that manner, the author observes that when adding, juxtaposing memory situations in reported time and space, it is possible for the enunciator to coordinate perceptions concerning existence in fiction and to relate them to intonations that increasingly narrow the interlocution between things lived and utterances. In view of that, we analyze the short story Um incêndio [A Fire] by Machado de Assis based on a dialogical perspective. This short story was motivated by the news of a fire that had occurred in a port area of Montevideo. The news was told by the engineer Abel Ferreira de Matos, who, in turn, had heard it from the boy Manuel Bandeira.

RESUMO O artigo discute o papel da música no trabalho, considerando a atividade musical como uma prática discursiva intersemiótica. Para ser capaz de examinar o tema tanto do ponto de vista da música quanto do trabalho, colocados juntos pelo discurso, a abordagem utilizada é interdisciplinar, composta por análise do discurso, etnomusicologia e ergologia. Primeiramente as fronteiras do conceito tradicional de cantos de trabalho são expandidas através da análise de dois exemplos pouco convencionais: uma peça publicitária e uma embalagem de produto. A partir desse viés expandido, o artigo explora cantos de duas comunidades brasileiras, da Bahia e do Maranhão, que cantam enquanto trabalham em atividades agrícolas e extrativistas. A conclusão ressalta que a relação entre música e trabalho ultrapassa em muito a abordagem estreita dos cantos de trabalho. Para compreendê-la, é preciso levar em conta as renormalizações postas em jogo e as comunidades discursivas implicadas por estas práticas discursivas complexas.

ABSTRACT This article discusses the role of music in work activities by considering music an intersemiotic discursive practice. It uses an interdisciplinary approach composed of discourse analysis, ethonomusicology and ergology in order to be able to examine the topic including music and work factors, put together by discourse. Firstly, the boundaries of traditional work songs are expanded through two unconventional examples: one in an advertisement, and the other one in a product packaging. Then through that expanded framework, it explores examples of two Brazilian communities, one from Bahia and the other one from Maranhão (both in Brazilian Northeast) that sing while they work in extractivist and agricultural activities. The conclusion points out that the relationship between music and work far surpasses the traditional framing of work songs. To better understand the role of music in the discourse of work activities, scholars need to take into account the renormalization which is brought into play and the discursive communities concerned by those complex discursive practices.

RESUMO Neste texto, procuramos estabelecer um diálogo entre fundamentos bakhtinianos e formação crítica de professores/as de línguas, especialmente a respeito do conceito de ética. Para tanto, analisamos as práticas discursivas de três professoras-licenciandas da disciplina Estágio Supervisionado de Língua Inglesa I, de um curso de Letras Português/Inglês, sobre o trabalho desenvolvido com o filme Além da sala de aula. O estudo aponta para a relevância do referencial teórico bakhtiniano sobre ética para a formação crítica docente, uma vez entendido que o/a professor/a em formação universitária precisa problematizar suas próprias concepções, perceber a responsabilidade de seus atos e assumir seu papel de agente.

ABSTRACT In this paper, we aim to establish a dialogue between Bakhtinian foundations and critical language teacher education, mainly regarding the concept of ethics. We analyse the discursive practices of three language student-teachers about the work developed with the film Beyond the Blackboard during their English Practicum I lessons. The study indicates the relevance of Bakhtin’s theoretical framework on ethics for the area of Critical Language Teacher Education, especially because it is understood that the student-teacher needs to problematize his/her own concepts, perceive the responsibility of his/her actions, and take his/her role as an agent for change.

RESUMO Este artigo explora a representação social da Tecnologia Informática e a Sociedade em Rede a partir da semiologia de Barthes, utilizando suas ideias sobre a criação de mitos e a conotação de discursos ideológicos por meio da sua naturalização. Complementando com alguns conceitos de Peirce e Santaella, buscou-se identificar e entender elementos dos mecanismos desses processos de mitificação e como eles incidem na criação de uma ordem informacional; neste caso, uma ordem digital. Conclui-se a iminência da percepção de que se presencia um alinhamento discursivo evangelizante baseado em elementos míticos e apoiados na aversão à incerteza, no princípio de poupança de energia e na engenharia discursiva guiada pelo alvo de lucro e poder. Destaca-se o viés da estrutura narrativa que reitera, de forma irreflexiva, a necessidade imperiosa da presença da informática e da digitalização sem o pleno contraponto de seus custos ou efeitos colaterais.

ABSTRACT This article explores the social representation of Information Technology and Network Society from Barthes' semiology, using his ideas about myth creation and the connotation of ideological discourses through naturalization. Supplemented with some concepts from Peirce and Santaella, we try to identify and understand these mystification mechanisms and how they affect the creation of an information order; in this case, a digital order. We conclude that we are before an evangelizing discursive alignment based on mythical elements arisen from our aversion to uncertainty, the energy-saving principle, and an engineering discourse guided by the urgency of profit and power. We highlight the presence of a reckless narrative that permanently repeats the urgent need for information technology and digitalization without considering side effects or costs.
