Effects of initial cutting, frequency cutting and its severity on the yield of Phormium tenax Forster

In a sandy-texture alluvian soil of the State of São Paulo, the authors studied the effects of initial cutting, frequency cutting and its severity on the weight and number of leaves and on the final stand of Phormiumtenax. Among three factors studied only the severity of cuts showed a significant effect. In this case, the cut of all the leaves injured the total weight of leaves, the weight and number of larger leaves and as well caused a higher index of plant mortality.
