Convergence of nursing beliefs and knowledge in the family care

The family has been prioritized through social programs, especially with the decentralization of health actions. However, to the detriment of the transformations happened, this glance directed to the family group continues linked to a biological paradigm, centered in the pathology, feeding the system with epidemiological data, not substantial concerning the real needs, life conditions and health of the families. The present study emerged from the need of developing and sharing knowledge that orientate the professionals' performance in primary attention of health, with the family playing the role of active subject in the search of solution for problems, in a co-responsibility and citizenship dimension. We aimed to answer the following questions: How have nurses been applying the theoretical marks in the daily practice of Nursing with families? Which knowledge produced converges and expresses the theoretical-practical tendency of Nursing care to the family? For doing so we aimed to reveal the theoretical-practical tendency of the Nursing care with families, starting from the convergence of popular and academic knowledge. We opted for the qualitative research method, using the convergent-clinical modality. The participants of the study were 14 nurses, among which 07 represented the research activity and 07 represented the clinical practice. Among the ones who represented the research, 04 were in the Doctorate level and 03 in the Master's degree. On the other hand, the nurses of the practice were 02 field supervisors and 05 former-students, representing the supervised apprenticeship, through the graduation monograph. We executed the approach to the participants through two stages, being the first, by individual contact and the second, prioritizing the collective construction of reality. We used questionnaires, and requested a copy of the theses and dissertations for directed reading by structured handout. For the second stage, we used the interactive panel technique, where the conceptual marks of care with families in primary attention were validated. The convergence of the knowledge was presented according to the knowledge patterns (empirical, ethical, personal and aesthetic) of Chinn and Kramer¹ and (socio-political) of White². From these, the ethical and aesthetic patterns were a few, in relation to an explicit declaration of these, by the participant researchers of the study. Once the ethical pattern was present in only two of the seven works analyzed, it offers, therefore, a gap for subsequent studies, for being the moral component of decision making by the nurse. As purpose, we built a practical guide to be used in the care of families in primary attention, in the perspective of suggesting to nurses and Nursing students, a tool for the adoption of a reflexive-critic posture before the human care. We considered that the popular knowledge and the academic knowledge are convergent, are integrated and integrate the Nursing care and answer the families' need for primary attention of health.
