ABSTRACT
This article deals with the relationship between Rancière’s work and Jacotot’s writings, on which the first focuses. For Jacotot, it is observed that the act of educating must be covered by the assumption of equality, that which constitutes rather a political postulate than an orientation of a pedagogical character. The educator is enrolled in an action aimed at the verification of equality, through an educational perspective founded in a universal principle. We will try to compare this debate, not only with the contemporary pedagogical literature, but also with the way in which the contemporaries themselves interpreted Jacotot’s experience.
