YOUTH AND ADULT EDUCATION RESEARCH: MEMORIES AND ACTIONS ON BUILDING THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION FOR ALL

ABSTRACT

The article, part of National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education (ANPEd’s) 40th Anniversary Dossier, brings memories and reflections on the course of research and policies of youth and adult education, contextualized in the historical periods in which they were produced. The work values the meaning of the systematization of experiences of social movements through popular education and those that emerged from the incentives of Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes) scientific policy for postgraduate studies in the country. The constitution of the work group (GT) 18 marks the moment when ANPEd formalizes the field of knowledge, recognized by the researchers. The foundation of research in the field is strongly anchored in the right to education for all, constitutionally regained in 1988. This right encourages and promotes not only actions aimed at youth and adult audiences, but also requires the understanding of learning issues/schooling, the formation of citizenship, the struggle for related rights and social justice.
