The founding particularities of the Brazilian punitivism

Abstract

The aim of the present article is to contribute to the production and promotion of abolitionist proposals that consider the specificities of the struggles in contemporary Brazil. For this purpose, the Brazilian socio-spatial formation will be discussed in its relationship to democracy and to the legitimizing arguments of punitive expansion. Finally, examples of struggles undertaken by black women who can collaborate with this purpose will be pointed out.
