Constitution time and Bridge for the Future: an analysis from the critical theory of social acceleration

Abstract

The problem that guides the investigation can be formulated as follows: to what extent is the constitutional crisis, evidenced in the recent reforms against the inclusive nucleus of the Brazilian Constitution that make up the program “A Bridge to the Future”, would be also a temporal crisis? Based on a theoretical-conceptual study based on bibliographic research and documentary analysis, the hypothesis defended here is that the background of this crisis is related to a discourse that instrumentalizes “historical time” and “future” itself for to generate social adhesion from the open defense of acceleration, the defense of a future that must come faster. This category is analyzed based on a specific reading that this article proposes from the work of Hartmut Rosa, within the framework of a criticism to the acceleration that submits the long-term public commitments of the Constitution to the tutelage of the accumulation of private wealth and the speed of market and.
