Resumo Exploro as relações do cantor de funk carioca Mr. Catra com o Judaísmo para repensar a noção de margem, tomando-a como espaço-tempo propício para a emergência de processos de subjetivação específicos, particularmente os artísticos. Argumento que a conversão informal de Mr. Catra ao Judaísmo é a culminância de uma vida que se constitui junto à uma vontade pela margem, manifesta ainda no trânsito entre sua residência e a favela e em sua filiação artística. Mostro o artista não erudito como especialmente apto a visibilizar a dimensão transformativa da arte ao mesmo tempo em que defendo que tornar-se judeu permite a Mr. Catra reconfigurar o modo com que elabora, através da arte, sobre as relações entre brancos e negros.Resumo em Inglês:
Abstract I depart from the relationship the funk Carioca singer Mr. Catra establishes with Judaism to explore the notion of margin, approaching it as space-time conducive for the emergence of specific processes of subjectification, particularly the artistic ones. I state that Mr. Catra's conversion to Judaism is the culmination of a life constituted by a will to dwell in the margins, also seen in his transit between his residence and the favela and in his artistic affiliation. I also state that the non-erudite artist is especially able to set fort the transformative powers of art, while claiming that becoming a Jew allows Mr. Catra to reconfigure the way in which he elaborates, through art, the relations between whites and blacks.Resumo em Português:
Resumo: O artigo aborda o trânsito efetuado por jovens moradores das periferias que, negociando entre províncias de significados de aparência antagônica, circulam entre o suposto hedonismo da cultura funk e o aparente ascetismo pentecostal. São apresentados os relatos de Amanda e Yasmim, moradoras de uma favela localizada em Vitória, Espírito Santo. Mesmo pertencentes a berços pentecostais, as jovens se afastaram da religião e atualmente exercem sociabilidades que incluem a participação em bailes funk, demonstrando que, mesmo apresentando concepções marcadamente pentecostais, as jovens conseguem reinterpretar as doutrinas religiosas a partir de valores constantemente reconstruídos. Como ferramentas teórico-metodológicas, apresentam-se relatos biográficos, os quais revelam a complexidade com a qual Amanda e Yasmim concebem as próprias existências e o contexto em que vivem.Resumo em Inglês:
Abstract: The article is on the passage made by youngers of the popular classes who, dealing among provinces of meanings with antagonistic appearance, circle between the supposed hedonism of the funk world and the seeming pentecostal asceticism. In the article, will be presented the reports of the Amanda and Yasmin, youngers resident of a slum located in Vitória, Espírito Santo. Belonging to pentecostal cradles, the youngers have went away of the religion and, nowadays, make sociabilities that include funk parties. They demonstrate that, even showing conceptions notably pentecostals, can reinterpret the religious doctrines. As theoretical-methodological tools, are presented its biographical reports, be evident the complexity with that Amanda and Yasmin conceive the own existences and the context in which they live.Resumo em Português:
Resumo: A proposta do presente artigo é refletir sobre a mise-en-scène das experiências do sagrado próprias às tradições do Congado, ou Reinado, no cinema-documentário, especialmente no filme A coroação de uma rainha (1993), de Arthur Omar. Baseado nos conceitos de fabulação e de sagrado, o artigo traz uma leitura da obra de Omar com atenção para as formas pelas quais o olhar da câmera, a montagem e a trilha sonora se afetam e, portanto, são constituídos pelos ritos, mitos e cosmologia do Reinado de Nossa Senhora do Rosário do Jatobá. Para tanto, identificam-se tanto os objetos, sons, gestos congadeiros que adquirem potência de ficção, quanto os recursos fílmicos que reverberam tal potência.Resumo em Inglês:
Abstract: The purpose of this article is to think about the mise-en-scène of religious experiences of Congadas, or Reinados, on film documentary, especially in the movie The coronation of a queen (1993), directed by Arthur Omar. Based on the concepts of confabulation and sacredness, the article brings a reading of Omar's work with attention to the ways how camera, montage and soundtrack become affected and, therefore, are constituted by the rites, myths and cosmology of the Reinado of Our Lady of the Rosary of Jatobá. To do so, we identify both the objects, sounds, gestures of Congadas that acquire a fictional power, as well as the filmic resources that reverberate such power.Resumo em Português:
Resumo: Neste artigo, analiso as incertezas em torno das obras de Aleijadinho, com vistas a sublinhar como argumentos sobre expertise são acionados em elaborações acerca da atribuição de autoria. Inicialmente, apresento o artífice/artista e como o referencial da antropologia da admiração (Heinich 1991) é profícuo para entender os efeitos da mitificação de sua trajetória e a importância conferida às suas obras no campo da arte brasileira. Em seguida, mostro como tais obras e outras imagens são vinculadas a noções de autoria, de estilo e de originalidade. Destaco, por fim, que imagens de santos e outras obras de arte podem se configurar como artefatos que devem ser decifrados por um olhar particular e revelador de afinidades entre domínios artísticos e mágico-religiosos.Resumo em Inglês:
Abstract: In this paper, I analyze the uncertainties around the Aleijadinho’s works, with a view to emphasizing how arguments about expertise are triggered in elaborations about the attribution of authorship. I initially present the artificer/artist and how the reference of the anthropology of admiration (Heinich 1991) is useful to understand the effects of the mythification of his trajectory and the importance given to his works in the field of Brazilian art. Then, I show how such works and other images are linked to notions of authorship, style and originality. I point out, finally, that images of saints and other works of art can be configured as artifacts that must be deciphered by a particular look, that reveals affinities between artistic and magico-religious domains.Resumo em Português:
Resumo: Este trabalho traça uma trajetória do Convento do Espírito Santo, de Santo Amaro (SC), destacando as imbricações entre espaço público e religião. Esse convento foi marcado por frei Hugolino (1926-2011), um franciscano que lá praticava curas. Depois de sua morte, o chamado Conventinho foi locado pela prefeitura a fim de preservar a “memória” da cidade e desenvolver “turismo religioso”. Essa circulação entre secular e religioso se expressa nos objetos do museu lá mantido. As peças, expostas como patrimônio histórico, são objetos de devoção de visitantes e funcionários do prédio. Essas práticas devocionais não apenas refletem a posição privilegiada do catolicismo no espaço público, onde pode emergir como “arte”, “história” ou “cultura”, mas mostram os vazamentos das práticas católicas, marcadas por atravessamentos.Resumo em Inglês:
Abstract: This article addresses the social biography of Espírito Santo’s Convent, in Santo Amaro (SC), Brazil, in order to highlight the imbrications between public space and religion. This convent was the place where lived Friar Hugolino (1926-2011), a Franciscan who promoted healing activities there. After his death, the so-called Conventinho was rented by the municipality in order to preserve the “memory of the city” and to promote “religious tourism”. This circulation between the secular and the religious is expressed in the objects displayed in the museum installed there. Some pieces, exposed as historical patrimony, became objects of devotion by visitors and employees of the building. These devotional practices reflect the privileged position of Catholicism in the public space, where they can emerge as “art”, “history” or “culture”, but they also give place to (not only) Catholic practices.Resumo em Português:
Resumo: Este artigo faz uma reflexão sobre as relações entre perspectivas políticas e expectativas milenaristas na obra El reino de este mundo (1949) de Alejo Carpentier. Inicialmente, identificamos alguns elementos políticos e culturais que influenciaram Carpentier no período anterior à publicação de El reino de este mundo. Na sequência, apresentamos um esboço da obra e analisamos as relações entre mito e história no texto. Finalmente, partindo de uma perspectiva comparativa entre os três processos político-revolucionários apresentados no livro (a rebelião de Mackandal, a monarquia de Henri Christophe e a república dos mulatos), buscaremos apresentar o movimento milenarista de Mackandal como o único de fato utópico e revolucionário, que, mesmo fracassando, continuou a engravidar de esperanças o espírito dos oprimidos do Haiti.Resumo em Inglês:
Abstract: This article makes a reflection on the relations between political perspectives and millenarian expectations in Alejo Carpentier’s The kingdom of this world (1949). Initially, we identified some political and cultural elements that influenced Carpentier in the period prior to the publication of The Kingdom of This World. In the sequence, we present a sketch of the work and analyze the relations between myth and history in the text. Finally, starting from a comparative perspective between the three political-revolutionary processes presented in the book (the rebellion of Mackandal, the monarchy of Henri Christophe and the mulatto republic), we will try to present the millenarian movement of Mackandal as the only one in fact utopian and revolutionary, which, even if it failed, continued to impregnate with hope the spirit of the oppressed in Haiti.Resumo em Espanhol:
Resumen: El texto indaga sobre la continuidad de las creencias y prácticas religiosas en un grupo de judíos italianos a través de dos sujetos principales, la familia y la comunidad como lugares de socialización religiosa. La perspectiva analítica está dada por el concepto de religión como memoria para comprender cómo se vive la religión en la sociedad actual, como se interpreta el legado y como es apropiada en las familias judías estudiadas. El campo de la investigación se refiere a la comunidad judía de Padua, radicada históricamente en la ciudad, una minoría religiosa en relación a los fieles católicos en Italia. Las técnicas metodológicas utilizadas son la observación participante y las entrevistas con álbum de familia.Resumo em Inglês:
Abstract: The text explores the continuity of religious beliefs and practices in a group of Italian Jews through the family and the community, as a place of religious socialization. The analytical perspective is given by religion concept as memory to understand how religion is lived in today's society, the interpretation and take ownership of legacy. The field of research is the Jewish community of Padua, historically based in the city, a religious minority in relation to the Catholic faithful in Italy. Resumo: Um grupo evangélico de estudantes em uma universidade pública do interior de Minas Gerais, pertencente à rede Aliança Bíblica Universitária (ABU), foi investigado por meio de observação participante e entrevistas, com o objetivo de conhecer suas práticas formativas, sua contribuição para a inserção de jovens na vida universitária, os sentidos que atribui à filiação religiosa na universidade e as suas relações políticas. Dados do campo, cotejados com a bibliografia sobre juventude, religião e universidade no Brasil atual, demonstram que a religião é uma importante forma de socialização e sociabilidade para parte das/dos estudantes da Educação Superior, assim como a participação no grupo evangélico tem importantes efeitos na relação de jovens estudantes com a esfera pública e na sua participação política. A ABU pesquisada tem sido bem-sucedida por valorizar uma dimensão mais pessoal e participativa da religiosidade evangélica, colaborando com a permanência de estudantes na universidade e estabelecendo pontes entre a cultura religiosa e a cultura acadêmica, propiciando a manutenção da identidade religiosa constituída antes do ingresso na educação superior. A pesquisa de campo ilustra algumas tensões vividas no grupo evangélico, do ponto de vista da participação política, derivadas da contraposição entre, de um lado, a horizontalidade e certas tendências progressistas vividas no cotidiano do grupo, e, por outro, a centralização e as tendências conservadoras das lideranças evangélicas.Resumo em Inglês:
Abstract: An evangelical group of students at a public university in the interior of Minas Gerais, belonging to the University Biblical Alliance Network (ABU), was investigated through participant observation and interviews, with the purpose of knowing their formative practices, their contribution to the insertion of young people in university life, the meanings its attributes to religious affiliation in the university and their political relations. Data from the field compared to the literature on youth, religion and university in Brazil, show that religion is an important form of socialization and sociability for students of higher education, as participation in the evangelical group has important young students with the public sphere and their political participation. The ABU researched has been successful in valuing a more personal and participative dimension of evangelical religiosity, collaborating with the permanence of students in the university and establishing bridges between the religious culture and the academic culture, propitiating the maintenance of the religious identity constituted before the entrance in higher education. Field research illustrates some of the tensions experienced by the evangelical group from the point of view of political participation, derived from the contrast between, on the one hand, horizontality and certain progressive tendencies experienced in the daily life of the group, and, on the other hand, centralization and conservative tendencies of evangelical leaders.Resumo em Português:
Resumo: Apresento neste artigo uma crítica à vertente interpretativa de Oscar de Figueiredo Lustosa, consagrada na obra Os bispos do Brasil e a imprensa, sobre o desenvolvimento da imprensa católica no Brasil. Para tal, enfoco as relações entre a Santa Sé e a hierarquia eclesiástica brasileira desde o final do século XIX até as primeiras décadas do regime republicano. O episcopado brasileiro valorizava a imprensa católica como meio de recristianização social e de combate aos inimigos e aos erros da modernidade. Porém, os investimentos não correspondiam às expectativas da Santa Sé, evidenciando a existência de resistências, tensões e embates às determinações pontifícias e de disputas e embates, em função dos diferentes projetos de recristianização social e de intervenção na sociedade.Resumo em Inglês:
Abstract: I present in this article a critique of Oscar de Figueiredo Lustosa’s interpretation, established in his book Os bispos do Brasil e a imprensa, about the development of the catholic press in Brazil. To that end, I focus on the relations between the Holy See and the Brazilian ecclesiastical hierarchy since the end of the 19th century until the first decades of the republican regime. The Brazilian episcopacy valued the catholic press as a means of social re-christianization and to combat the enemies and the errors of modernity. However, the investments did not meet the expectations of the Holy See, evidencing the existence of resistance to pontifical determinations, in view of the different projects of social re-christianization and intervention in society.Resumo em Português:
Resumo: Este artigo analisa os significados de se tornar devoto, segundo a tradição de ensinamento Vedanta, e algumas implicações decorrentes deste tipo de experiência vivenciada pelos interlocutores. Baseia-se no trabalho de campo realizado junto a um grupo de estudantes de Vedanta não dualista que vive na cidade do Rio de Janeiro. Os significados desse aprendizado serão retratados, assim como sua implicação sobre o estilo de vida do grupo. Além disto, questões como trajetória do indivíduo ocidental, desencantamento espiritual e perda fundamental do sentido de viver serão discutidas, com a finalidade de análise a respeito do tipo de religiosidade praticado pelo grupo pesquisado e, em última instância, de contribuir para o entendimento do(s) significado(s) de ser “religioso” ou “espiritualizado” na modernidade.Resumo em Inglês:
Abstract: This article analyzes the meanings of becoming a devotee, according to the Vedanta tradition, and some implications arising from this type of experience lived by the informants. It is based upon fieldwork of a group of Non-dualism Vedanta students that live in Rio de Janeiro. The meanings of this learning process will be portrayed, as well as its implications on the life style of the group. Furthermore, matters such as the trajectory of the Western individual, spiritual disenchantment, fundamental loss of the purpose of living will be discussed, with the aim of analyzing the kind of religious beliefs practiced by the group, thus contributing to the understanding of the meanings of being “religious” or “spiritualized” today.
