Ensaios terapêuticos com um novo antibiótico, acefaloridina (Ceporan)

Cephaloridine (CEPORAN) a new semisynthetic antibiotic derived from cephalosporin C was given to 10 patients, 2 of whom were cases of typhoid fever. These 2 cases tolerated the drug quite satisfactorily, had some of their toxemic manifestations abolished, but were not cured. One of them, after disappearance of fever, on the 8th day of treatment, had a relapse, while the other remained febrile for the whole period of treatment (13 days). The other 8 patients, with streptococcal, staphylococcal and other bacterial infections responded satisfactorily to therapy with CEPORAN, with the exception of one case with chronic recurrent furunculosis.
