Entrepreneurial: a new paradigm for higher education?

Abstract

The article addresses the transformations that are taking place in the conceptions of higher education in an international context. Supported by a relevant bibliography, it highlights the construction of a specific concept for higher education, called in the article the instrumental model, which aims to strengthen the links between universities and the economic field. At first, it addresses the process of construction of this instrumental conception, indicating that, far from following a linear trajectory, it is the result of a combination of works carried out by academics, international organizations and research centers. In a second moment, the article addresses the emergence of the notion of entrepreneurial university, that is, the entrepreneurial university and its diffusion, emphasizing the insertion of this type of university in the construction of an instrumental conception for universities.
