This article focuses on the treatment given to female participation in the 1933 elections by the newspaper Correio do Povo, from the city of Porto Alegre. Universal suffrage and equality of vote were generally only conquered during the first decades of the 20th century. An undeniable female achievement, making Brazil one of the first countries to grant the right of vote to women. A long path has been crossed since the first demonstrations of the 19th century until the definitive conquest of feminine suffrage in the 1930s in Brazil. The aim of this work is to give emphasis to this female achievement through the approach of the newspaper, analyzing both articles and images chosen to illustrate this movement.
