We analysed the established processes for the verification of ethical infraction accusations involving nursing personnel from a University hospital, from 1989 to 1994. We verified some characteristics of the ones who denounced and the ones that were denounced, and circumstances of the facts indicated in the accusations. The most frequent infractions checked by the commissions were classified by the researchers as: Indiscipline and Mistreatments to the patient. Recomendations are presented to contribute to the solution of the problems.
