Abstract
OBJECTIVE
To understand the preparation of the evaluation process of nursing technicians and assistants by nurses at an adult inpatient care unit, from the competence-based management perspective.
METHOD
Descriptive and qualitative study, developed with 13 nurses at a university hospital. The data were collected between May and June of 2017, through semi-structured interviews, and were submitted to thematic content analysis.
RESULTS
Two categories emerged: competence-based management, a new model of evaluation; and, evaluation process, a trajectory to be discussed.
CONCLUSION
Planning the evaluation throughout the year in periodic meetings about the subject is important to the preparation of the evaluation process. Furthermore, the previous knowledge of evaluation mishaps subsidizes the nurse in the organization of the evaluation.
