This issue features the editorial "National European Society of Cardiovascular Journals - Principles, Logic and Mission Statement of the 'Club of Editors'". The effort, first introduced by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), is supported by the Brazilian Society of Cardiology (SBC), through the Editor-in-Chief of Arquivos Brasileiros de Cardiologia (Brazilian Archives of Cardiology), Fernando Bacal, besides the main Brazilian entities affiliated to ESC, which publish scientific journals.

The participation of Arquivos in this initiative proves the international recognition of the importance of our journal in fostering and disseminating high-quality research, mainly the research done in Brazil. It also underscores its role in the education and in the harmonization of clinical practices. More importantly, publishing this editorial is not only a single action. In September, we will have one more paper, endorsed by the editors of Ibero-American cardiovascular journals, which stresses out proposals of mutual collaboration among scientific journals, deriving from a meeting held in March during the Congress of the American College of Cardiology, which SBC attended.

In order to support this joint effort, during the 64th Brazilian Congress of Cardiology, we will promote the Symposium of Editors of International Journals, with the Editors-in-chief of the Portuguese Journal of Cardiology, Fausto Pinto, and the Spanish Journal of Cardiology, Fernando Alfonso. In parallel to this publication and to other Brazilian journals of Cardiovascular Surgery, Invasive Cardiology, Hypertension and Echochardiography and Cardiovascular Imaging, the Cardiology Society of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the Cardiology Society of State of São Paulo, the Department of Echochardiography and Cardiovascular Rehabilitation and The International Journal of Atherosclerosis, a forum of scientific discussion will be promoted to address common themes to be published. The session will be held on Monday, September 14, from 08:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

I could not fail to underscore some other themes to be addressed in our scientific congress. Over 30 international lecturers have confirmed their presence. Peter Libby will deliver the opening lecture on "The impact of atherosclerosis in the globalized world". For his contribution into the development of cardiology studies, he will be honored with the "SBC Merit - International Teaching Award", never awarded to anyone else before.

Also for the first time in the congress, Portuguese language societies will gather to carry on the Jornadas das Sociedades de Cardiologia de Língua Portuguesa, already held in the Republic of Cape Verde, in January. The societies will also build up the Federation of Cardiology Societies of Portuguese Language, in which SBC plays an active role. Worth of note is the symposium with the American College of Cardiology, which was divided into two phases, whose agenda includes events for one day.

Also in a concerted work with international entities, there will be a partnership with the French Academy of Sciences, to celebrate the year of France in Brazil and the Portuguese-Brazilian and South American symposia, as well as those with the European and Spanish Cardiology Societies. The themes to be addressed include cardiovascular diseases in women and pulmonary arterial hypertension, in partnership with the Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute, just as in the last congress. There will be activities with the Latin American societies of Intervention Cardiology and Arthrosclerosis, besides 17 international conferences.

SBC prepared a well-selected range of activities of high scientific level, in order to promote the good-quality updates to all members. See you in Salvador!
