Evaluation of different genetic groups of broiler breeders by multivariate analysis of variance

The performance of two broiler breeder lines developed by UFV (M1 and F1), in relation to two commercial marks (C1 and C2), were studied by multivariate analysis methods using the test of the largest eigenvalue of Roy, and by means of Union-Intersection test of Roy for multiple comparisons. The following economic traits were analyzed: age at sexual maturity (IMS), egg number (NO), egg weight (PO) and body weight (PM) in three periods of the productive life of the bird,: initial (25th to 32nd week of age), medium (48th to 56th week of age) and total (25th to 62nd week of age). The genotype effect was significant by Roy test. No significant genotype differences for IMS, as well as for NO were observed in the three periods. Significant genotype difference for PO was observed in the initial and medium periods, and no significant difference was observed in the total period. However significant genotype difference for PM was observed only in the initial period.
