George Bacovia is an important Romanian poet, initially classified by the literary criticism as a symbolist one. This paper attempts to bring out to light the influences that come from the decadent poetry upon Bacovia's work, in order to contrast its traditional attachment to symbolism. In particular, we highlight the presence of French decadent poetry in the work of the Romanian poet.
