The scientific production on the expansion of higher education and its developments from the Reuni program: trends and gaps

The present study aims to map the production of knowledge related to the theme public policies for the expansion of higher education, and its developments through the "Program to Support Plans for Restructuring and Expansion of Federal Universities (Reuni)" in the scientific production published in Brazil from 2007 to 2016. The methodology used was the bibliographical survey of theses and dissertations published in the Theses Bank of the Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), articles published in journals in the Scientific Electronic Library database Online (SciELO), and full papers published in annals of national scientific meetings held by the National Association of Postgraduate and Research in Education (Anped). As a result it can be verified that the Reuni Program has been analyzed by two strands: that of the political evaluation and the analysis of its implementation. The analysis of the publications on Reuni also allowed us to observe that, in addition to the lack of reference to the few studies on the impacts of the program, these are still mostly addressed to the institution in which Reuni was implemented. More comprehensive and longitudinal impacts studies of the Reuni are practically absent in the literature of the area.
