Vicente Juarimbu Salles (1931-2013): time vanquishes the man, but not his work

Biographical notes in memory of historian, anthropologist and folklorist Vicente Juarimbu Salles, born in the State of Pará and deceased in March 2013 in Rio de Janeiro. Salles has authored reference works on the history of Pará and collected important documents, available at the Museu da Universidade Federal do Pará. The article highlights space and temporal landmarks of his life and career as intellectual and researcher; his major book titles; the small book editions that he produced; and his theoretical and methodological contributions to the history of the Amazon, especially on the black people.
