EDITORIAL NOTE

Exploring and sharing the wonders of Neotropical biodiversity.

Brazil and another 16 countries of the planet are megadiverse; that means that they have the greatest diversity on Planet Earth.

However, this important asset is not reflected in the teaching of biodiversity in high schools and for the general public in many of these countries. Engaging children and adults in discovering biodiversity in their district, region or city promotes growing opportunities for building a stronger and more participative environmental movement. The collection of plants and animals for the characterisation of biodiversity stimulates interest in the natural world as well as promoting conservation, and can improve the links of humans with nature.
