Peanuts and beans mixed crop studies

SUMMARY

Field trials studying the association of beans and peanuts were carried out in Pindorama and Ribeirão Preto, São Paulo State, in February — May, 1969. The seed mixture treatments tested were: A — 100% beans; B — 100% peanuts; C — 90% peanuts and 10% beans; D — 85% peanuts and 15% beans; E — 80% peanuts and 20% beans; F — 70% peanuts and 30% beans; G — 60% peanuts and 40% beans, and H — 50% beans and 50% peanuts in different rows 0,30m apart. Best results were found in Pindorama; in both localities, C, D, and E treatments showed bean plants affected by the better peanuts development. In F and G treatments, beans depressed the peanut plants development and seed production.
