Morphology of the carrot mosatc virus

SUMMARY
Particles of carrot mosaic virus (CMV), found in leaf-dip preparations have 740 mμ, in normal length and 15 mμ in diameter, which places it among other viruses of the potato virus Y group, in Brandes' classification of elongated plant viruses.
Although similar in morphology to another virus of Umbelliferae, the celery yellow mosaic virus (CYMV), the slight but consistent difference in normal length and noticeable differences in their biological behavior suggest that they are distinct on distantly related members of the same complex.
