Opportunities in the labor market: analysis of job vacancies available for people with disabilities

Abstract

Introduction

Hiring people with disabilities in the labor market is mandatory in Brazil through legal quotas established for public and private companies. However, several factors hamper the professional insertion of this people.

Objective

To analyze and describe the characteristics of the job vacancies offered to people with disabilities, during the period of one year.

Method

A descriptive study that analyzed the characteristics of vacancies offered in employment agencies and mass communication media, from the years 2014 to 2015, for people with disabilities in the Uberaba Microregion, located in the Triângulo Sul Macroregion/ MG, Brazil.

Results

Only 87 openings were identified. The majority did not provide important information such as gender, age, education or requirements such as prior experience. The majority also did not report about the company, the branch of the economy and the job or function.

Conclusion

Most work ads had restricted information about the job requirements. There was a predominance of vacancies characterized as occupations with poorer requirements on schooling, technical and professional qualification and with low remuneration.
