MAPPING THE PRIVATIZATION OF PUBLIC EDUCATION IN BRAZIL: A METHODOLOGICAL CONTRIBUTION TO STUDIES IN EDUCATIONAL POLICY

This article presents a research methodology developed by GREPPE for analyzing privatization of the education in Brazil. It is based on a theoretical and methodological framework that considers educational policy in three dimensions (education offer, education management, and curriculum). The focus is on research referred to as longitudinal mapping, which is conducted through: 1) Inventory and systematization of primary data in time series across various contexts aimed at mapping and identifying forms of privatization, and 2) Trends highlighted based on the capillarity of the analyzed processes and the classification of private organizations with the highest incidence and their consequences for the right to education. The results highlight the contribution of research such as longitudinal mapping of educational policy to the organization, systematization and analysis of data and information – making it possible to identify and understand trends, patterns and changes in aspects of educational policy over a given period.
