Open-access YOUTH TRAJECTORIES POST-SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL MEASURE: BETWEEN PRISON, DEATH AND THE STRUGGLE FOR SURVIVAL

This article analyzes the trajectories of adolescents and young people after serving socio-educational internment measures in the state of Espírito Santo, Greater Vitória (2016–2021). The methodology combined interviews and documentary analysis of data from information systems and official documents. The research reveals that 70% maintain their institutional trajectory, whether through re-entry into the socio-educational system, entry into the prison system, or death. Therefore, the analysis indicates that the stigma of “ex-prisoner” acts as a factor of perpetual control and reiteration of violence, which ultimately shapes the institutional trajectory of these adolescents and young people. The conclusion is that the Child and Adolescent Rights Guarantee System (SGDCA) needs to make efforts to transform this reality.
