Abstract:
Focused on an excerpt of the 1942 Brazilian edition of the book Nietzsche by Crane Brinton, the Brazilian novelist José Lins do Rego attempts to demonstrate that the Nazi ideologists ignore Nietzsche as a poet, critic and psychologist, using only a few concepts that could justify the aimed-at “theory of the chosen race.” Hitler, then, in erecting the German philosopher’s bust in Weimar in 1934, would not be focusing on Nietzsche, but on his own madness and will to domination.
