The proposals of Nord and Hurtado Albir: two approaches to translation studies

ABSTRACT

It s intended to present definitions of translation, principles and elements implied in the translation process up from the proposals of two fundamental authors of Translation Studies: Christiane Nord, who follows a functionalist perspective, and Amparo Hurtado Albir, who defends an integrated perspective of translation. The purpose is to identify approximate elements between both. To this end, first we present each one of the proposals highlighting the main aspects concerning translation as a communicative act. Then, we compare these aspects in order to identify commun and distintive elements between both authors. Finally, we present a synthesis of the analysis performed.
