The Police as a Witness: The Construction of Discourses against Adolescents in Sentences of the Court of Justice of the State of Rio De Janeiro

The Police as a Witness: The Construction of Discourses against Adolescents in Sentences of the Court of Justice of the State of Rio De Janeiro aims to discuss the construction of military police discourses in sentences issued against adolescent perpetrators of infractions. From a set of decisions issued by the Court of Justice of the State of Rio de Janeiro (TJRJ), we emphasize the official arguments to evaluate the testimonies as perpetuators of certain determinisms about urban spaces and social subjects. We advocate that there is a discursive pattern among officers, which describes hostility as a justification for ostensiveness, in addition to a prevalence of police testimonies in the processing of decisions.
