Open-access Reflections on information management in university libraries and teleworking

Objective:  Information management is a set of practices aimed at optimizing the flow of information within organizations, allowing them to adapt to environmental changes. Following the pandemic period, telework has become a work modality that is gaining ground in the federal public administration and in Federal Institutions of Higher Education (IFES), and university libraries are situated within this context. From this perspective, the present study aims to present reflections on information management in university libraries within a telework setting.

Methods:  The study was characterized as exploratory, descriptive, and bibliographic, with a qualitative approach, using the information management model proposed by Choo as a theoretical basis.

Results:  The results showed that activities developed in a telework regime in university libraries can be aligned with the information management cycle advocated by Choo.

Conclusions:  It is concluded that information management in university libraries must be a relevant practice adopted by library managers, as its application promotes continuous improvement in the services and products offered, allowing them to adapt to the social, environmental, and technological changes occurring in society, such as telecommuting.
