Open-access AVALIATION OF DAMAGES OF Oncideres dejeani THOMSON, 1868 (COLEOPTERA; CERAMBYCIDAE) IN Albizzia lebbeck BENTH. (LEGUMINOSAE; MIMOSOIDAE) IN THE SEROPÉDICA REGION, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL

The present work consisted in the evaluation of damage of Oncideres dejeani Thomson, 1868, in Albizzia lebbeck Benth. utilized in the arborization in Federal Rural University of the Rio de Janeiro Campus, in the March-September, 1993, period. The crowns and the stems were examined to quantify the damages. The sawn branches were analised about the diameter, in the proximity of cut regions, and lenght, with diameter and lenght means of 3,28 centimeters and 2,22 meters, respectivality. It was verified that occorrence of damages in 100 per cent of examined trees, observed, that, O. dejeani can damage the young trees stems, and cause alterations in the crown formation and making easy entry for the fungus. The specie complete the development of its life cycle in branches that remain connected to the tree after ring cutting. The use of A. lebbeck in park arborizations, without the necessary control of O. dejeani, can cause serious accidents because of diameter dimensions, length and impacts of sawn branches that fall.
