This is an essay about the film Estrada para Ythaca (2010) by Luiz Pretti, Ricardo Pretti, Guto Parente and Pedro Diógenes, in which the staging of clouds as a mark of the sublime is confronted with failure not only as an aesthetic position but also as an ethics of contemporary art and artists. As a response to failure, friendship appears as a strategy of survival and also of isolation from the world.
