When To Say is to Produce the Other

Abstract

In this article, we continue the debate on subjectivity production carried out in my doctoral thesis (GONÇALVES, 2019), which focuses on the entrepreneurial nature of the discursive practice called motivational in the scope of bodybuilding. We explain, argue and demonstrate how discursive practices capture bodies and produce subjectivities. With this, we highlight the creative role of language and the solidification of certain subject profiles to maintain certain perspectives on life and society. To make this journey, we rely on Michel Foucault (2010,2016), Suely Rolnik and Félix Guattari (2013), Grada Kilomba (2019), Dominique Maingueneau (1997, 2008) Bruno Deusdará and Décio Rocha (2018).
