Intersectionality as praxis: reflections on race, gender, and self-definition in digital sociabilities

This article aims to discuss intersectionality as praxis, that is, a practice grounded in theory, for understanding processes of self-definition, construction, and affirmation of Black identities. By viewing intersectionality as praxis, the focus here is not only on what intersectionality is but also on what it can do. This analysis is developed through the study of the YouTube channels of Ana Paula Xongani and Gabi DePretas. Using a qualitative approach, data collection and analysis were carried out through screen ethnography (Rial, 2004). It is observed that intersectionality as praxis emerges from the articulation between social markers of difference and the agencies involved.
