Theorization within the crisis trance: politics, organizations and research in circular thinking

Abstract

In the trance of the crisis, what future can and should we produce, in terms of theorizing about organizations and society? How are we going to connect with the process of researching, theorizing and making politics? More than ever, it is vital to question our role as intellectuals and our theories in the societies in which we live. We need to re-articulate values such as solidarity and social justice in an academic-intellectual production and performance that is embedded in interlocution, dialogism and engagement with society. Engagement is a relationship that involves negotiation and collaboration between researchers and practitioners within a spirit of community driven by ongoing learning. In this process, thinking in circles can help because its logic is based on a web of relationships, on thinking and acting in a multidimensional context and within the overall conception.
