The contribution of sociology of knowledge for the studies of institutionalization and legitimation of the knowledge scientific field

Abstract

The dissemination of new knowledge to society, is subject to specific processes of recognition and incorporation. For these phenomena occur the new knowledge needs to be institutionalized and legitimized. In this sense, this theoretical review of research has as aimed at identifying in the sociology of knowledge, proposed by Berger and Luckmann (2008)BERGER, P.; LUCKMANN, T. A construção social da realidade: tratado de sociologia do conhecimento. 28. ed. Petrópolis: Vozes, 2008. the elements that enable their use in studies of institutionalization and legitimization of knowledge of the scientific field. The outcome of the study points out that the argument of the processes of institutionalization and legitimization of knowledge proposed by Berger and Luckmann (2008)BERGER, P.; LUCKMANN, T. A construção social da realidade: tratado de sociologia do conhecimento. 28. ed. Petrópolis: Vozes, 2008. is presented as a theoretical framework capable of use in the analysis of scientific fields.
