The impact of violence in the family system of women victim of agression

This study aimed to characterize the impact of violence suffered by women in family relationship dynamics and identify the transgenerational violence in women who suffered physical aggression. The study was exploratory-descriptive and adopted a qualitative methodology. The participants were 10 women who had suffered physical violence and had made a complaint in a police station for the care of women. Data collection was conducted through semi-structured interview which subsidized the construction of the family genogram. For data analysis, the empirical basis theory (Grounded Theory) and the software Atlas / ti 5.0 were used. There are a number of reasons for the participants to have remained with the aggressors, despite having suffered other situations of violence and the impact of violence on children and adolescents who lived next to them. With the construction of the genogram, the transgenerational violence was revealed, and the members of their families of origin had a similar pattern of family relationship. It is understood that the results of this study reinforce gender relations and violence as transgenerational important points to consider when thinking and implementing research, policies and actions related to women in violent situations.
