Work and organizational Psychology - portrayal of the scientific production in the last decade

The practices of the Work and Organizational Psychology (POW) hold an important place in the context of the profession and justify the need of investigative efforts to the knowledge of its current state. In doing so, the scientific production in the POW area published in national journals from 1998 to march 2009, available in the databases: Scielo, Pepsic and Lilacs, were investigated. The keywords used in the initial research were: Organizational Psychology, Work Psychology and Psychology at Work, and 619 articles were selected. After reading the abstracts, 116 articles that matched the proposal were identified. In these articles, the journal publicized, the year of publication, the number of authors, the theme and the delineation of types, studies, analysis and research were analyzed. Among the results, one can notice a notable increase of the yearly publications, while the subject with the largest number of publications was work and health. It is also possible to say that the analysis delineates the development of an area as well as its specificities of study, in order to highlight the expansion and quality of scientific production, as well as new fields for investigation.
