This study discusses the new reproductive technologies, also known as assisted reproduction. They are viewed as the last stage in a historical process of medicalization of sexuality and reproduction, responsible for the emergence of notions which took on the role of social normalization in regard to the body, sexuality, man, woman, pregnancy, delivery, lactation, childhood. It shows, moreover, how the paradoxes of assisted reproduction are obscured by the investment of the media on these new medical phenomena, with the consequence of overshadowing their dubious effects and their limited evaluation in the scientific field itself.
