Behavior of mediators in group decision processes as condition to an emancipatory education in solidary economy

The purpose of this study was to identify the behavior and the dimensions of behavior of mediators of incubation processes of solidarity entrepreneurships relevant in promoting decision making processes compatible with the principles of cooperativism. The data were collected in meetings of a sewing cooperative which were recorded on video. About 20 members and one mediator were present in the meetings. The results indicated the occurrence of the following behaviors of the mediator: presenting information in a clear, complete and objective manner to the participants; promoting the participation of the participants (asking for manifests, giving word and presenting questions) and proposing motions for the matters discussed. For most of the time, the mediator was a facilitator in the process of decision making, promoting the participation of members of the organization in this process and an appropriate formation of these members in forming the group's autonomy.
