ABOUT IDEOLOGIES AND INCOME TRANSFER PROGRAMS IN BRAZIL

Abstract

With this work we aim to show that income transfer programs, such as Bolsa Familia, is are in an ideological stage in the current political scene and contributing to hinder class consciousness processes, especially for those who are included in these programs. We do not deny that these programs have improved the condition of immediate life for poor people, but not without significant collateral effects that we want to discuss in this paper: on the economic point of view, an increasing financial dependence of the population in relation to programs. From the social point of view, there is a political dependence that at least reflects in a depoliticization of the social issue. We will analyze the nature of these dependencies with support of marxist categories such as ideology and class consciousness. We concluded that the programs have been absorbed by neoliberalism while helping to obscure the class conflict in the country.
