Scientific production about health teaching: a study into brazilian journals

This article analyses articles published in Brazilian periodicals that address teacher training in health. The methodology consists of searching the Lilacs and SciELO databases and systematic documental review of existing literature. Of the 76 publications included, the review was based on the criteria of: region of Brazil, author's profession, concentration of papers in periodicals, research approach and topic addressed in the studies. The majority of the scientific production reviewed was from the southeast of Brazil (65.7%), with a predominance of nurses as the authors (43.3%), the use of qualitative methodology (40.7%) and undergraduate studies being the most common topic (43.4%). The review demonstrates researchers' need to understand the process of change in the field, so that the guidelines for developing a pedagogical project can be outlined.
