Low densidty polyetilene (LDPE), in the postharvest conservation of fig cv. "Roxo de Valinhos" stored under cold storage

It was studied the effect of different polyetilene packings in figs cv. "Roxo de Valinhos" under cold storage conditions. The fruits were picked out at the beginning of the maturation stadium, cleaned and selected, and then packeted in polyetilene films plastic of different thickness, as follows: 1 (control), 2 - LDPE with 6 µm of thickness, 3 - LDPE with 10 µm of thickness, 4 - LDPE with 15 µm of thickness, 5 - LDPE with 22 µm of thickness, the fruits were stored in cold chamber with temperature of - 0,5 °C and 85-90 % of RH, for eight days. The analyses were carried out daily, being evaluated the following parameters: loss of fresh mass, visual aspect, fresh firmness, total soluble solids, titritable total acidity and relation TSS/ATT. At the end it was verified that the fruits packeted in LDPE with 22 µm of thinckness, presented the largest fresh firmness, best visual aspect, smallest contents of total soluble solids, largest levels of titritable total acidity and the smallest values in the relation TSS/ATT, when compared to the other treatments. In the parameter loss of fresh mass, all treatments differed statistically from the control.
