We have reached full legal age: 21 years publishing Pharmacognosy
The Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy turned 21 this year, and thanks to the vision and dedication of all its past and present Editors, has progressively been conquering its space as vehicle for divulging vanguard knowledge in the Pharmacognosy area. The responsibility for the quality of the published articles is shared with the referees who analyze and opine about the convenience or not of the cientific content. With the intent of adopting the biggest promptness possible in publishing the received studies, the quality of these articles cannot be abdicated. The selection seeking the originality and applicability of the studies represent aims of permanent care. The authors frequently demand the publication in the smallest time space it is a right that the editorial team seeks to always attend to. The possibility of satisfying all, daily meets diverse factors that may justify an undesired delay. We appeal to our collaborators to pay more atention to the rules and stile of the Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy, before sending in articles. The disattention, distractions, disacomplishment of rules, disrespect to national and internation conventions, disregard to the effective nomenclature and terminology, usualy delays publications. Besides this, agencies such as CAPES, CNPq, FAPs, SCIELO, MEDLINE, ISI and demanding readers evaluate the published articles and observe "with magnifying glass" the form, cientific content and accuracy in the padronization of the publication norms. As the readers may perceive, with each published fascicule we overcome goals. We announce, therefore, new indexations to internation data bases such as EMBASE, Compendex, GEOBASE, EMBiology, FLUIDEX, World Textiles and Elsevier BIOBASE. In this fascicule we are publishing 24 articles, half of which in the English language.
Once again we would like to thank the authors that have been strongly quoting other articles published in this periodical (auto-citation). In this context, we remind our colegues when possible to include in the references of your work published in other journals, citations of papers of your authorship or of another author that has been published previously in the Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy, preferably in the last two years. This apparently simple gesture will be of extreme importance to raise the prestige of our journal in the near future.
We believe that, with a lot of work, persistence and, most of all, with idealism, ours and of all those who have made the Brazilian Journal of Pharmacognosy a periodic of quality, we can savor our conquests and outline new goals for the next volume, while always improving. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a 2008 full of scientific realizations.
